Gamo CFX Accuracy
Gamo CFX Accuracy
New Gamo CFX fired from benchrest at 20mt using Norica Thor pellets five shot group. Air rifle has only fired 40 shots will test it soon for velocity with different brands of pellets and post the results. As you may well guess I am more than happy with accuracy so far.

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
Hi Kulzy59,
Nice group from the CFX.
Can I ask, what did you rest it on when shooting that group? There used to be a school of thought that said springers needed to be held, but with the foreward hand supported by a sand bag.
I'd be interested to hear how you set yourself up for that group.
regards, curan.

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
At the club that I belong to Curan we have benches made of concrete slabs and I have made a rest that I use when I sight in all my rifles I have included a photo of the rest and the benches. I don't have any different method to hold the air rifle than I do with any other rifle that I sight in, just rest the fore end about two thirds of the way down the stock from the trigger and grip the stock lightly and concentrate on the sight picture, I also make sure that the butt does not touch the slab only cradled in your shoulder.

Kulzy,
Good effort. Have a look at these triggers. http://www.charliedatuna.com/
Supposed to be the go. A few guys at the club I go to have them on their's, and they are a good improvement.

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
Awesome accuracy, I too have a Gamo CFX but in .177, very happy with the accuracy, havent got a nice picture of a target but can knock the cap off a plastic bottle at 20m.
My question is with the effective range to drop pests at? At what distance wouldnt you shoot a pest at? Im talking birds rats/mice. Is 50m too much to ask out of an air rifle of this type? It is very effective at 20m

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
Picked up a CFX a few months ago for shooting rabbits, i think for a cheap air rifle they are not too bad and accuracy is pretty good. It is a shame about the trigger though as i think this lets the rifle down somewhat. I also think there is to much plastic at the muzzle end which makes the rifle look cheaper than it is.
Kindest regards

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
I have given my CFX a go at a crow at 50m using Beeman Silver Bears. One word, devastating. Pretty happy but the trigger is heavy.

Re: Gamo CFX Accuracy
my dad and brother both have charleys triggers on their gamos, they say it is a huge improvement.
but i wouldnt do the trigger without the replacement spring and other bits they have.
charleydatuner has retired but his offsider is still doing the parts.
