Re: My PB.
Ryan I suppose all clubs have there own problems one way or the other, and yes I have seen blokes chamber a round and also have 5x in the magazine when we shoot sillywets and it is supposed to be 5 shots, some events we have there is no sighter and yet blokes will bang away at a spot that is of the actual target and then you get the blokes that hold the shots back when shooting group.stinkitup wrote:How about everyone just verify they have 10 rounds on the table if its just 2 5 shot groups.
Ryan
I am proud to say that I have never cheated or felt the need to and I am more than happy(maybe a lie a bit on that one)to be beaten fair and square and I have been beaten by someone that I know has cheated to win but..........................................in a small club what do you do.
I bite my lip and say nothing, sometimes myself and a couple of mates that also compete have a discussion over a beer or ten about it and there is no eazy way to deal with it.
Anyway I am a bit OT on my own thread but what ways are there to stop this sort of thing,I have mentioned that we shoud shoot more hunter class targets.........whether it is one shot or maybe two shots per bull just makes it eazier to verify the number of shots fired...................or we just keep rolling along is we are.
Regards Chris.

Re: My PB.
This is why the Small Bore Association changed the target so that it is now one shot per sight picture as opposed to two.

Quite a good thought Knackers.Knackers wrote:Chris what about those $20 roast chook rotisserie thingo's that take a couple of "D" size batteries, they have at Crazy Clints or Mad Harry's or whatever they call the junk shop over your way, you could make up a bracket to hold it and feed off a roll of paper towel. They turn pretty slow so it could be done I reckon?
Just a thought.
may have other applications, too...
Sacrificial (hardwood) timber frame to support and protect,......hmmmmmmm...........

Re: My PB.
Someone told me a while back that some places stretch inner tube rubber behind the targets, its somehow suppose to help tell how many shots were fired. Dont know how or if this would work. Great group anyway Chris, i hope my 6ppc can do something half as good as yours. Cheers Ron

Re: My PB.
Hey Ron I hope mine does half as well next time out as well ,I have read through this thread and actually feel a bit sad that I have said what I said about unsportsman like conduct but I suppose that is why in serious(registered comps)they have taken measures to stop this.
Our club is a great little club and as a whole runs like clock work and as I have said a blind eye is often shown to the antics of a very few and at the end of the day they still dont finish in the placings most times which always draws a smile from me and if thats what you have to resort to to get a result I would rather stay at home.
I imagine that some clubs have the bloke/blokes that hose everyone at the locals and shoot terriffic groups time and time again and then they decide(get talked into)to go to a proper shoot and guess what, none of the small groups are forthcoming and the excuses start flowing..................................that makes me smile as well.
Regards Chris.

Re: My PB.
Hi Chris , i guess every club is more or less the same. A hand full of people do all the work whilst others stand back and watch. And then you have the guys that put shit on what your doing but dont have the balls to have ago themselves. And then there are the ones that WILL DO ANYTHING TO WIN (cheat). I use to get upset with all of the above, but now i just concern myself with what i want to do and if anyone thinks bad of me thats there F#%King problem ! Cheers Ron

Yes, they still use rubber tubing behind the target.
If you were to shoot your medallions then you would need use the inner tube. How it works is that it is later stretched to confirm that you have used the required number of rounds for the applicable award.
Failing this a range Officer will sit with you if need be to confirm the number of rounds and that they were all fired consecutively with-out returning to a sighter target.

You mean things like shooting the motor that moves the backers? Or shooting the wire the backers are on? Both are hardly unheard of.Ron Goulding wrote:And then there are the ones that WILL DO ANYTHING TO WIN (cheat).
Yes, some people are tools.

Re: My PB.
There is the classic were one of our club members who will remain nameless removed his trigger guard to make weight for a comp, now thats desperation to win a plastic trophy. Cheers Ron

Re: My PB.
Ron I am unsure but I always thought that the trigger guard was one thing that you actually had to have fitted.

Re: My PB.
Hi Chris , yes you are 100% correct it is a saftey issue not having one fitted. This particular fellow who is a mate of mine i should say, will do ANYTHING to WIN ( cheat to win ) and il NEVER let HIM forget it !
PS It was very funny watching him trying to make weight that time out at West Wyalong for 4.5kg class. He was changing stocks , screws were left off , Bolt knob off , and he was still to heavy , the desperation inn his eyes as he put his rifle on the scales. PRICELESS !
