Ruger Predator 204

Post by JG79 »

Hi all,

New to the website, 30year's old, been shooting since i could remember with my father and starting to get back into it after a 4year absence. Done a bit of pig shooting but mostly rabbit and fox sniping. Going through the process of buying a new firearm and after doing a bit of research have settled on a Ruger Predator in 204 for an all round fox and under gun.

Anyone had any experience with the Ruger Predator? Pro's, Con's

Any info appreciated.

Gday & Welcome mate.

I haven't used a Ruger Predator but I have used and owned a fair few Ruger firearms and I don't think you can go wrong. You might have to get the trigger adjusted by a gunsmith but thats about it. I think its a good choice if you want a nice lightweight varminter.

I believe the predator is a VT with a lighter thinner stock

From what I can gather it's a Hawkeye with a 24" medium weight barrel, 2 stage trigger etc etc. I like the VT but wasn't keen on the weight so much when the predator will do about the same job. Although i'm no expert :)

Putting a Leapould VX3 4.5-14x50 scope on it, shouldn't be too bad a settup especially when I can put this together for the value of a bare sako85.

VT has a 26 inch barrel so theoretically should squeeze a smidgeon more velocity out

Predator is a nice looking rifle. Good luck with it. Post photos of the rifle and the carnage!
