AV Postal Entry

Post by albow »

As outlined by JR in one of the other threads I shot my first fly match in Townsville the other week with my varminting rig. All I can say is that Jeff and the others make it look very easy and the difficulty factor I thought about beforehand was realised

Below are the three best targets for the day and a starting point for my entry into the competition. I can't wait to get out next month and improve on this effort.

G'day All
Well done mate ,you must be one of the only few to post a target.
You can really see the vertical dispersion that aJR speaks about.
Looks like it was a relatively calm day .?

Hi NH, Considering Al was shooting in what effectivily was 8ins of mirage movement at the target face i think he did great ..The target design is not kind in heavy mirage coupled with the grouping capability of Al's combo gives you exactly what he got.. I saw only 1 of the 25 record shots during the day with a 30 cal ..You can imagine how many the small cals saw,FA..JR..Jeff Rogers ....

I shoot 55gn ballistic tips as I only have the 1:12 twist. I know what you are saying about the 1:8 however I am just using my current varmint rifle for the postal comp till I get finished building a dedicated LR rifle for this type of shooting. I'm not going to change the 223 for LR however when it's worn out I may look at a faster twist if I rebarrel.

Kenny

The rifle is coming along steady. We are just waiting on a throating reamer but got all the bits ready to go. Hopefully not too much longer and as keen as mustard :D:D
