Nykron Scopes- whats there reputation like.?

Post by native hunter »

G"Day All
I have found a nykron ( I think ) 8-32x56, 30mm tube offered to me by a mate and was wondering what people think of them and how much they are worth.?
I have tried to search them on the net and came up with Zilch.!!!
And before anyone says its a nikon -NO it is not.!!
Regards
Damien Webb.

I have a friend with a Nykron scope on his .22mag i cant recall if its fixed at 4x or 6x. It is clear enough for this caliber and it holds zero. I dont think it was very expensive as it came packaged with the rifle.

It is servicable for what it is used for but side by side with my Bushnell 3200 it dosent stack up.

Sorry i cant help any more than this Damien, but when he gets back from up bush i will ask him about it

ps Shooter wholesale warehouse has them listed as budget scopes

Check out Alcock and Pierce in Melbourne if they are still around. They have been selling Nykron for years. Chinese made and mostly airgun rated I believe. HTH

i have a 1.5-4.5x32 on my air rifle, my understanding was this is an air rifle scope.

Don't know much about the brand really. A mate has a 4x on an air rifle too.

my scope was ~$170.

Ditto - got the same on my airrifle from Alcock and Pierce. That model at least is meant to be tough to stand up to being on an airrifle which are particularly jarring.

I have had it for years but not really used the airrifle so can't comment other than that it seemd fine from the 10 shots or so have fired (over 8 years!!). Anyone want ot buy a powerful and largely unused air rifle with a Nykron scope???

I've seen 2 of the 8-32 x 50's on rifles when you put a colimater on the rifle & wind the focus or change magnification the crosshair moved 2 to 4 minutes, mostly when adjusting focus, so I wouldn't keep one if you gave it to me.

Damien,
1.The Meteor is ready to return except I'm stuck for one forearm screw.I found one original S/H one but need another.Other than that,it shoots like a dream!
2.Still waiting on my HW97 order..,.so I can swap the stock.I'm not very happy with others right now.All my Beeman airguns and accessories are STILL in Customs..
This perpetual waiting is extremely frustrating and makes me look bad.

Yes the Nykron's are a cheap chinese scope, reasonable quality compared to some of the chinese stuff, the 8-32 sell for around the $400 mark new.

If you dont need that much power for the job intended put your $400 odd dollars to a smaller better quality scope, but there is worse than the Nykron around.
cheers,
Shane
