Re: Tactical lights
Well i have just ordered the following as a test. To see if I can accessorize my .22 on the cheap and get away with it.

Re: Tactical lights
I also bought two differenct tape switched with this one, as it wasn't very clear what would fit. (they were only about $4 each)Neither fit - nor did the one from the Romison I got first.Plowboy wrote:badger74 wrote:Well, this bad boy arrived the other day. all I can say is Holy Shit. This thing absolutely craps all over the first one. Im guessing a conservative 200m! perhaps more. Its a very tight beam with virtually no spill.
I have very little experience with spoting, so Im not sure if this is perceived as a good thing or not, but for its just bloody impressive.
Mate can you get a tape switch to fit those???? Looks bloody good for a test/ cheapy torch.
Im going to take a punt, and see it I can take the guts out of one of the spare tape switches, and put it into the tailcap of the thrower. I'll post it up if it works.
I was stuffing around with this torch again last night, and I think my 200m estimate is about right. Through my 6x scope, I think I could pick up a rabbit at 200. Useful range for the .22 being 100 means it an overkill, but very nice on a hummer, hornet or .222.
Sir huntalot, you haev basically got the same kit as the first one I got. The bipod is pretty light weight and flimsy, but on a .22 it will do the job. When you get the charger, it will need to be modified to work in Aust outlets. I just bent the asian style parrallel prongs around 45 deg, so they lines up with the Aust outlet. Im not saying you should do this, just how i got mine to work. Adapters are also available from dick smith etc.

Yeah cool I will do some more searching for a tape switch for them. As for the adapters. Get them it is not worth the risk of doing a dodgy.
What about mounts for them? What size would you need for a scope mount?

Yeah already bought the adapter. Looking forward to getting it. Got to different mounts just to see what works as they were only like 4 and 2 dollars.

Hi All,
been reading the forum for a while now but this is my first post. I'm interested in the final results of the torches. how did they work out in the field? considering rolling the dice and having a crack at the Deal extreme torch for my 22...

Re: Tactical lights
Check out the P3-250 (ADA special edition) at http://www.accurateshooters.com.au/head ... lights.htm.
There are a few features that make this torch unique:
The Cree Q5 LED illuminates through an aspherical lens, so there is no dispersion (loss) of light through a reflector and the fully focussed beam is square - the same shape as the LED.
It has a twist focus (firm and water resistant) that takes the beam from a 30 degree cone to a fully focussed 250 lumen beam that will burn a hole in the beam of just about any other torch on the market.
It runs on 3xAAA batteries, so you can choose to run single-use or rechargeables. The rechargeable 16500 battery will also work, but it's a bit loose, so it needs a wrap of electrical tape to stop it rattling.
I run 2 of these on my rimfires and 223 (barrel mount and scope mount - pictured on the website) and they're effective to a genuine 200m in tandem.
Special offer to forum members:
P3-250 torch $75
Barrel mounts FREE (while stocks last)
Scope mount $20 (due in Australia this week)
Postage $5
Total $100 - save $29

Re: Tactical lights
G'day Fellas,
I most normally use a head mounted 3 led light that are issued to us at work, they are manufactured by Pelican products and are extremely bright, so much so that they turn night into day and will light up the entire Cargo hold and bay in any of the worlds Dark and Gloomy container vessels. They are certainly ideal for field use.
http://www.nationalsafetyinc.com/12063/ ... lican.html
However, I recently purchased two new torches from one of the local Supermarkets.
A few weeks ago I had initially seen genuine 4D Maglites on the shelf at $35 each and decided to return the following pay week to make the purchase.
Having returned I found that there were none left and so decided to speak with one of the employees who informed me that there were more out back.
Being short of time I requested if he would leave one at the service counter with my name on it so that I could collect it on the way back. Whilst in the isle I also found a 19 Led 3C torch manufactured by X Streem for $30.
http://xstreem.com.au/index.php?option= ... e&Itemid=1
I initially had no desire to purchase two torches but with all the black-outs we tend to have, another torch will no doubt be put to use and....it has the ability to be mounted to one of the rifles. Now I too can be TaktiKool.
As for the Maglite it has been given permanent residence in the Car because you never know when you are going to run into trouble
Regards
Sean

i would like to know how you managed to post a few links on this forum and then somehow convince me to spend a crap load on torches.
Since following your link i have pruchased 5 torches.
They are all awesome - i think have only spent a total of $200 on all 5 including 8 spare batteries, mounts tap switches, charger, etc.
I can second that the recoil thrower is fantastic value - i am on a hunt this weekend to test it. I have already modified one of them by directly wiring it to the battery - the battery is regulated by an inbuilt pcb so we will see how it goes. I will give a better insight after this weekends hunt.
I plan to use a 900lumen torch to search with whilst the rifle is slung over the shoulder and then use the recoil thrower for longer searching and obviously whilst shooting.
I have also found a tap switch to suit - it doesn't cover the o ring when screwed on but still works.
It is item SKU-01025 - Superfire Gun Mount Pressure Pad
I can light up items on my street crystal clear that i know are at a minimum 150meters. The end of my street is 250m away and i could make out the road - i don't think i could spot a bunny that far with it though.
get one they work great - lets just see how long they last.

I've got the 250 lumen recoil thrower on the way as well - for the price why wouldn't you give one a go?

hey Fenring, I seem to remeber you have a wolfeyes, don't you? When the recoil thrower arrives, can you do a side by side comparison for us? I love to know how it compares for 20% of the price.

Re: Tactical lights
Nah mate, I have an Eagletac T100C2 - 220 lumens and is pretty tight, though I expect the recoil thrower to be tighter.
I'll be doing some beamshots as best I can when it gets here.

Re: Tactical lights
I can now confirm that these torches are fantastic in the field.
I managed a few rabbits and 2 foxes during a 2 hour session on Monday night.
I even used the torch to sight the rifle in again once i had mounted the torch - the torch mount on the barrel didn't changer the impact point. It was crystal clear out to 150m without the scope and under scope approx 200m - which is way more then i need on the .22.
The search light and gun mount combo worked well - it saved the batteries on each torch and also saved my arms from having to hold the torch up.
