Yet another Q on Tactical Rifles

Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice on some tactical rifles.
I have looked at the Remington 700 Tactical/Police, Ruger Hawkeye Tactical.
Are there any others, I'm not buying as yet, just browsing and sticky beaking.

Don't get too caught up with the word tactical used by rifle company marketeers. Basically so long as it's repeatably accurate and does not have the super tight tolerances of a bench rest rifle it should qualify. I've had a Rem SPS tactical, a tikka t3 Varmint and now a custom build that I'll use to shoot tac rifle here in Canberra.

I would say a bull barrel is a must if you intend to compete with the rifle.

Cleaver firearms, horsely park gunshop, bankstown gunshop check out the ruger VT,Howa varmint,remington varmint/tactical,weatherby sub MOA. What calibre you looking at and for what purpose might help the boys point you in a better direction.

Ye the Weatherby Sub MOA,s are nice, but gee, those Tikka T3 varmints have a heck of a lot going for them. I have never heard a bad word about and a good price too.

most companys have there own tacticals. im a big fan of the savage range, and am trying to talk the missus into a kimber lpt atm

Yeah, the tikka's seem to be coming more and more popular, for fantastic value.

I cannot recommend a vanguard. Go the Tikka or the VT they are the best bang for your buck Varminter's available on the market IMO.

I dunno about what others think but I reckon a "tactical" rifle is more of a style like thumbhole or the like. More to do with the look of the rifle and maybe some minor differences in ruggedness although I wonder whether since this style of rifle has become more popular, the rugged qualities may fall asside in preference to looks. For me I want a rifle with a steep pistol grip similar to the grip in the AR15. Not to say it would look like an AR but more like those Axiom stocks. The grip feels much come comfortable and stable to hold and shoot. I would love the accuracy international system but I would have to find a far better price for that than $1500+

I still reckon though if a sniper could still hit the eye out of a rabbit at 300m whether the rifle was tactical or some standard looking rifle. It takes a good shooter to make a rifle perform and a fancy arse rifle will not make a crap shooter much(if any better)

weatherby 204s have real short barrels, if you want one of them may as well have a 223 imho
