Tasco Brookvale
Hi everyone , i thought id share this story with you. A while ago i attended the penrith gun show and as you do was just walking around the tables. I noticed a few scopes in a box and happened to pick up a older tasco 4-12 x 40 AO, i noticed that the cross hairs were very very fine more suited to a old lyman or leupold. I played around with the focus eye piece and found that somebody had screwed it all the way out and had the lock ring tightened up all the way. Once it was adjusted to my eye sight it it was quite clear and was a plain cross hair , not too thin and not to thick, it was just right. I took both caps off and made sure the turrets worked , but some heavy fisted turd had opened up one of the slot to the point that a screwdriver wouldnt do its job. The price was marked at $50, as it was very clear i decided to take the punt i could do something with it. I took it home and mounted it on a Rem 700 223, i then took it to St marys just to see if it tracked properly, which it did. I then took it off and took it down to Tasco at Brookvale. I spoke to Rob and asked if he could repair the damaged to the turret, he said no problems $40 to repair the one turret. I then asked him would it be possible two reinstall TWO taller finger adjustable target turrets, he said no problems $30 each. So for A total of $110 i have a beautiful tasco built in Japan varmit scope. Now where did i put that 223 again
Cheers Ron

That sounds like a bargain Ron and you certainly know where to find them.

Yeah you just have to know where to look i guess and take a punt every now and then. Rob down at Brookvale said he can do repairs to other brands as well , not just tascos. Really nice bloke as well. Cheers Ron

Good stuff.
I have seen people walk past Tasco's because of the current reputation of Tasco's
without actually looking to see where they are made.
Well done.

Re: Tasco Brookvale
I would like to also comment on the Tasco service guys.
Many years ago I won a Tasco 3-9x40 World Class at a Smallbore Prize Shoot. It was put in the safe and promptly forgotten.
A couple of years ago I moved house, so I had to empty out the "accessories" safe to move it, and what should I find but the 3-9x40.
I was looking to put a scope on a Brno Model 1 I was tinkering with, so on it went. Well poor bugger me, one of the turrets was frozen. As I lived not too far from Tasco (about a 10 minute walk in fact) I dropped in to see what could be done. This was a week or so before Christmas, Monday or Tuesday.
"Geez mate, we're flat out with the Christmas rush and will be closed for a few days as well. I might be mid to late January". No probs, it was a project rifle, so a couple of extra weeks was no issue.
Friday lunchtime, the mobile rings - "Mate your scope is all done, if you get here before closing you can have it before we close for the break, or I can post it out."
So I dropped in to pick it up, "So what's the damage?"
"Nothing, lifetime warranty"
So there you go, they have had pretty good service for a while it seems.

Ron
Thanks for posting this info. I have a Tasco 4-16x40AO which I purchased new in 1989. Do you think they could fit target style turrets to it? If so, who do I need to contact?
cheers, Jason.
