Simply Awesome a 1K
Simply Awesome a 1K
Hi all , This year at the Missoula range , Montana ,USA, a Mr Leo Anderson has set a new benchmark in Heavy gun at 1000yds .. He set a 6 match average record at 5.0735ins ,read that it's 6 target's during the year ,ten shots each at a 5.0 inch agg..Although this is done at a very special place because of where and how the range is situated ,this is outstanding when you consider that out of all the groups shot in AUST since 2000 the best 6 ever would not get you down to this size .. Mr Anderson ,you da man ,i tip my hat sir ..JR..Jeff Rogers

Hi Jeff,
thats consistant shooting for sure. We could do with a special range like that over here i.e. no wind or mirage would help for a start.
Congratulations to Mr Leo Anderson

I bet there has been a decent amount of time, effort, money, preperation, skills and practice to get those results. More than most of us could spare.
Re: Simply Awesome a 1K
Yes mate ,The time effort prep skill and practice are all in there but after shooting a cartridge thats near 4 inchs long i think the secret in this is two fold .. 1st a unique range, second is the Viper drop port ,Stiller only makes this dinky little action for the PPC /6BR cartridges only, so thats what these Heavy Guns are running.. I have heard of 10 shots in 16 seconds ,i don't know how quick it actually is but i do know that the actual size of the action i use limits the speed to about 10 seconds slower than what these guys are doing + the small disruption from the 30 gns of gunpowder is a definate plus ..JR..Jeff rogers
