Got a BSA off my uncle chambered for .222rem. I've already got L461 in .223rem so I dont really need a .222rem. So I was wondering if the BSA action was worth rebarrelling, in .204 ruger. Does anyone know enough about the BSA to say whether it is strong or accurate. From what I can see it has an adjustable trigger, a sako type extractor and ejector monte carlo stock. It's a pretty nice rifle really, would appreciate some feedback.
cheers Nick

Re: .222 rem BSA Monarch
Mate,
I had a BSA in .270 for a fair while, seems to have been misplaced around '96 from memory, lol
Mine shot like a dream, don't be suprised if yours is a good shooter too, lots of people found 'em to be.
They may not be a bench gun, but damn fine in the paddock

Clean it up and shoot it as is.
You might be suprised ....
Try the 50 gr Speer TNT .
I have a Monarch in .243 that was floated and bedded.
This rifle shoots well under .5 at 100 yards for 5 rounds with 75 gr Sierra handloads.
It was my first centerfire rifle .

Started on the stock, it has come up treat. Some really pretty wood was hiding under the original finish.Stonewall wrote:Clean it up and shoot it as is.

I reckon I might try it out, but I'll still rebarrel it I reckon
Re: .222 rem BSA Monarch
I think BSA bolt guns are pretty underrated. They got a bit of a bad rap when they went to the one size fits all CF2 action. The Monarch & Majestic were supposed to have a three lever trigger system if memory serves me correctly. I hunted around the LGSs for 12months looking for one to rebarrel & couldnt get one at the right price or any price for that matter. Plenty of CF2s, nil Monarch , Majestic or Royal.
Can you post a few pics of the action , stock etc.
