Winchester stainless/laminate coyote in 22/250 -Kopje bedded, crowned & trigger tuned but otherwise standard. Shoots 50 gn v-max pills into 0.5 moa @3950fps. Wot more could you want..? p.s. looks great too.......

I have a Remmie XR100 in .223 coming. Looking forward to playing around with that - will be the first time I have toyed with a .223 - coz I have always reckoned that the .223 sucks, but I have been trying to become more open minded lately. Getting that little .17HMR was a revelation - I now know that I am not ALWAYS right.

dont know if its a factory one but i saw a Remington 700 SP Tactical in a mag and F@$k it looks like a sweet rifle

I was about to buy the same thing XR100 in 223, money got sidetracked to a LB,LP Stolle for the young bloke .. so saving again .. I would be real interested to hear what you think of it.

Ackley Improved had one and reckons it was the most accurate factory rifle he has owned.

Anyway I have a scope review to do on a new 6.5-20 which looks promising and would be lovely on top of a varmit rifle.

We can swap info.

No worries Rinso, should be interesting. I will be sticking a 6.5-20 on mine as well. Really keen to try out this 40XB trigger in it and see how it goes against the 700 trigger, will be nice to be able to tweak it without pulling the thing to bits. Supposed to be able to bring it down to 1.5lbs release weight just with the supplied adjustment range.

My other two Rems have had the safety taken out and are used as single shots. The .22/250AI has a Jewell three lever & glued in follower and the .25/06 Sendero has one of those benchrest followers in it with a tweaked standard 700 trigger. They are OK in hunting rifles but for long range the standard 700 job is pretty crap I reckon.

dunno really.
I have a baaad habit that every factory rifle I get ends up being modified; (that excludes the 308 Steyr Scout ) some call it sacrilege, but i reckon its' just me being my strange old self.

You will be very happy with the XR100. The one I had shot very well, so well infact that I can easily say it was the most accurate factory rifle that I have ever owned.

The 40XB trigger sounds nice.. but it is not some miracle trigger.. I still swapped mine with a rifle basix.

If interested, I could most likely find a picture of a group I shot with mine.

Now, the 223... its a fun round... they shoot good.. I shot mine to 300m, but you new about it! Mine loved the 52 Sierra MK's.

I said that I would never own a 308... bought a rem. PSS in 308, sold it to get a custom one built. Like the 223, they do their job, and I believe they do it well!

When you get yours, check the forend on the stock. Mine had cracks between the forend holes, and after checking 3 XR100's, two were the same.

If I were to buy a factory varminter, it would be a XR100 in 223 or 204!

How was the bedding on the XR100 mate? Did yours need to be done? Wonder what would cause the laminate to crack, would have thought there was plenty of meat in the solid section to stop the forend timber from flexing, although the laminate is pretty hard. Definately will check that out. A group pic would be great if you stumble across one thanks.

I never did get a bedding job done on it. I always shoot the rifle first, and if I am happy with the results dont get them bedded. The XR100 was more than accurate for my liking!

I did install a rifle basix ERV-3 trigger though, which made it really nice to shoot.

The cracking on the forend was between the vents.

The 52 Seirra MK's were very accurate, but so were the 50 Nosler B/tips. The Nolser group was a typical group, but from memory the average group size would have been around the 0.4".

Great groups for a factory rifle, if mine goes as well I will be happy. Did you try any heavier bullets in it mate? Probably won't go much bigger due to the 1:12 twist.
