Update on JSB .22 cal 25.4 gr "Monsters" and .25 cal "Kings"

Post by Yrrah »

The .22 JSB 25.4 gr "Monsters" that Pavel sent for me to test back on June 17th still have not arrived. They are coming surface mail. He sent a second sample a month ago supposedly by air ; it too has not arrived. In the meantime, they have started production and distribution of these and some are in the market place in Europe..

Secondly, the first version of their .25 cal JSB "King" Exact is being produced and stockpiled pending the issue of their permission to market a new calibre pellet. Pavel is sending me a sample for testing which hopefully this time will get here Express delivery. ...
The .25 springer and PCP rifles may well both suit this pellet which I understand is in the mid 25 gr class also. ...

As I still have not been able to test these two pellets I cannot say how they will go. I would be disappointed if my rifles don't shoot them better than the Kodiaks ( which is OK but I still feel could be better ).

The BC of the .22 Monsters may be as high as 0.065 which will give them great down-range velocity and energy retention.........

I have flagged this with Lewis as I feel there is never a better batch than that which comes off the line first up while the dies are pristine; and providing the stampers are well adjusted.
The 18.1 gr pellets have been superb. I stocked up on those and I hope any of you who found them to be of your liking did likewise. They are shooting fantastically all the way up to 980 fps out of the JB OZ 1 Hornet... :auto: :bang: and giving the rimfire shooters competition if you read the post further down ....

Maybe a show of hands ( albeit sight unseen) for Lewis and Rob to gauge possible interest in these two pellets? ........ Sorry that the mail system has let me down with these tests but things happen ....... Kind regards, Harry.

Sounds good Harry, I know there are a few .25 lads over here running at high ftlb that will be interested.
Totally agree with your observation on fresh dies. I stocked up on a batch of fx 16gn as they were from a fresh die. I can think of a number of pellets that have fallen out of favour because qc goes out the window. Is it the bean counters trying to squeeze a few more bob out of the punters, which is sad because in the end it turns around and bites them.

Neil the King .25s are the same format as the normal JSB Exact of 15.9 or 18.1 gr .22s ...... The .25s are also 25.4 gr I think.
They should fly just as good as the smaller calibre.

The .22 Monsters are similar to the JSB Heavy 10.2 gr .177s or somewhat like the Defiants but not the same. They have a nice heavy round head and a good hollow in the skirt to keep the tail light. I am really looking forward to testing them at 875+ fps from the big Hornet.

The same rifle with the .25 barrel installed should get the Kings out at near 900 fps ........ Exciting times .... Kind regards, Harry.

It is a annoying wait for you Harry but my hand is up for the new .22 pellets, the sooner the better I say.
I have nearly used all my Kodiak stock and I am hopping from one foot to the other waiting on your testing program.
In the meantime I am still tickled on how well the 18 grainers are performing.

Yes it has been frustrating Ray. But I can see the day when my .22 PCPs will settle back with just three pellets, 18.1 and 25.4 gr JSBs and JSB made Predators.

The .25 barrel I hope will thrive on the "King" clone of the Exacts and my guess is that the future 30+ gr JSB will be profiled like the Monster .22. Ballistic coefficients will go up and no bunny, cat or fox will be safe to "way-out-there"... Things to look forward to keep us going :) . Then there may come a .25 cal Predator Wow ....... Kind regards, Harry.
