I think you will find a gun is indeed required for shooting.
We don't
need to shoot. Not recreationally anyway.
Suppressors have other safety benefits apart from saving your hearing.
ie: if you are with a group of people and you have hearing protection on its harder to hear a warning ie: look out, dont shoot etc etc
Now whats your stance on it mate? Should law abiding recreational hunters be allowed to carry and use a suppressor without any BS?
My opinion is no mate. It is a prohibited item under the firearms act. If they allow silencers to all, what next a total reform, semi-auto centerfire??? I mean, sure that would be great but I just don't think it's feasible, not in thius lifetime anyway. Imagine the poachers getting around and blokes spotlighting deer etc if everyone had silencers.
Just my opinion.
If they are poaching or generally breaking the law then they aren't law abiding rec hunters then are they? What is wrong with Semi-Auto centrefire? I'd love an AR-15 with a heavy barrel in a varmint cartridge (6mmbr) WITH A SUPPRESSOR). I am no more of a danger with one or without one and if I could have one I'd jump through the hoops too. I'd even have back to base security etc etc if it meant being able to own one of these babies.
Just because it won't happen doesn't mean that we should oppose it.
Yeah cool mate. I dunno, if they drop their guard so to speak, it would open the flood gates for a heap of other shit. Where would it end??
Where would what end? What is there to be afraid of? Are any of us here more of a danger to society with an AR-15 or with a Rem 700 or even a Rem 7600.
Don't throw law abiding people in with criminals. Criminals will get a hold of anything they want regardless of the law so why would you not allow law abiding citizens to have these things?
I also suggest you take a look at NZ, their gun laws, what they are allowed to have and then take a look at their crime rates in relation to these things. They even had gun registration once and looked at it smartly and realised it didn't make a difference.
They can pretty much have everything I mentioned above and yet the country is not in anarchy nor are there any more (there is probably less) mass shootings per capita to Aus.
Look at the facts mate not on anti-gunner ideals.
