Insane Torch - Led Lenser X21
Flicking through the latest edition of Shooter
I notice on the back page the big torch name the Led Lenser X21
With the photo below, its the same as the one on the magazine, its meant to be the ''Actual Photograph''
The torch is neither small or light
Length 395 mm
Weight 1488 g
7 LED's
http://www.ledlenser.com.au/2009/ENG/pr ... hp?id=x_21
Does anybody own one or heard of it?
Do you reckon the picture is a gimic or some sort of miss advertisement?
Thanks
Dan

Re: Insane Torch - Led Lenser X21
Bit of a gimmick lol
My torch is 700 lumens and the lenser X21 is 1068. Its a bit more but that image is trick. Notice its against the rock face, light bounces of stuff the same angle as it hits, so if your spotlighting and aiming your torch out at 100 mts it hits the ground at say 20 degrees and then the light bounces of at 20 degrees and keeps going and you loos the light. But in those pictures its hitting a rock face flat on and bouncing back, makes it appear brighter.
Our good friend Mr Wolfeyes hopefully will respond and correct me if im wrong.

Re: Insane Torch - Led Lenser X21
To me it looks like the camera that has taken the photo has had a very long exposure. Even the slightest amount of light will become bright on a photo if the shutter is left open long enough.
Actually... after having a better look I would say its not even the a single picture but a photoshopped cut n paste job. The foreground with the bloke has been added in. Most likely a nice big set of lights on the rocks, take the photo and then add the bottom in later!
Never trust a picture!!!!
Cheers

I looked at one of these torch's the other day!
I asked the salesmen to justify how that torch could be $650.00
I had a look, they are good but not that good! The salesmen was telling me they are the best torch bar none! Of course they are cause he is selling them!
I would be interested to hear hat Glen has to say as well?

Yeah i was thinking a big mural looking 3D rock face, or just a really dark night, with the rocks reflecting i guess.
I watch a video on youtube, where he tests 2 torches and then the X21 and its bright, but no means that bright.

May aswell just get a scope mounted spotlight or hand-held, probably smaller than it anyway.

Re: Insane Torch - Led Lenser X21
I've got two Eagle Tac T100C's coming - 220 lumen or can be turned down to 55 and burn for over 14 hours. I've had one here for a while testing it and it's only 14.2cm long and 112g.
Can pick fox eyes up at 150m easily and that's your aiming point, LOL. Adds virtually no weight to a rifle and mounts unobtrusively beside the scope.
A mere $50US delivered.

Nice torch the X21, though they may be a bit optimistic on the claims. I think Trev has it on the photo or possibly a pro photo shoot with pro lighting. Effective photo for displaying a torch. It is a pretty big unit the X21, it takes 4 x D cells and is 1.5kg, so not likely to be mounted on a firearm
