Well today saw the first LR match shot in Townsville since our season ended last November.
The match was a 550yd BR match which involved us shooting the 600yd target at the shorter distance than normal but it was no easier especially given the superb NQ mango winds and beautiful mirage from the tropics. A lot of the groups reflected the tough conditions by having one shot step out of the group ruining what could have been.....
All shooters had a great time and enjoyed being back at the bench with 8 shooters turning up for the day and hopefully we will be shooting our 1st 1000yd match next weekend.
The results are posted now too for you to have a look at.
Well a double yippee from the TSV crew .. 8 shooters , 32 targets and at least 32 excuses for why they didn't all go to the right place ,but NO complaints.. Not 1.. Strangest mirage i ever did see, the strong southerly winds musta blowed that odd mirage all the way up to us from WallyWorld i reckon .. You don't know what you got till it's gone , i guess that a camo dressed fellow with a TAC rifle with a muzzle brake would have been just as welcolme as anyone else..JR.. Jeff Rogers..ps.. i'm the new shoot capt for 550yds Benchrest ,please fell free to contact for any further info..
Well here i was down in Brisvegas on Saturday morning ready to shoot 1K BR at Wallyworld with my brand new 17 lb LG airgun in hand and no prick was at the range to greet me.
Good to see the boys up and running at Townsville again and it looks like the mango winds and mirage did the job. 3.5 inch agg for HG and 4.5 for LG sounds like it was just peachy. Good luck next weekend with the 1K and i am glad i won't be there. Maybe 270 Win is not such a bad caliber after all and what was i thinking when i said that a 270 reamer was only good for being a match reamer for a 280. Well done to Jeff H.
Tony Z from the Mullock Heap Coast Them is not road works down here, that is Anna digging up all the Gold to sell off!!!
It is funny you mention that 270 Tony as there were a number of swabs taken on Saturday as part of a protest put into the match officials as no one believes that it can be shooting that well without some form of performance enhancers....
To tell you the truth it probably would not matter ,if anyone had a handle on those conditions last Sat it was Jeff H. He should travel south for a match .. The swab and specimen came back Klean too..JR..Jeff Rogers

I was talking to Jeffrey on Sunday night and even though he shot crappy......he was almost himself again...a few more sniffs of burnt powder should see him right ...well back to normal...what ever that is anyway
