Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
Mine is my 222rem's primary load itshoots great with this load:
23.5gns BM2 = $0.08
Winchester small rifle Primer = $0.08 (if you buy your primers per 100)
50gn Nosler SHOTS = $0.15
Total = $0.31 per round or $31.00 per hundred.
I haven't bought brass for it in 3 years. I even had a whole unfired pack.
It doesn't stretch or crack that much so whilst it runs about 40-50c per piece after 10 loadings it takes it to a total of $0.41 a shot still as good as a 17hmr with much more performance.
I reckon I can beat this with shopping around.
Can you guys beat that with a jacketed bullet in a rifle?

Mate I think I paid $40 or $42 for 500gms BM2???
Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
I worked out ages ago that my 22-250 was only costing me 37 cents or something around there with 55gn V Max, but that was long before everything went up in price.

G'day Fellas,
When I was running a .223 I was using 19 grns of 2207 and 50 grn Taipan, the last packet of Taipans that I could get my hands on were $25.00 for a 100.
Regards
Sean

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
I haven't added things up for the 6BR but now that I am running 2 of them, that might be interesting to know.
The price of things at the moment is ridiculous and with the Aussie dollar going up, (today it's .80 cents) I wonder how quickly agents will be lowering their prices.

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
22BRX currently around the 75c per reload but thats shooting 69gr nosler custom competition bullets. If I got some bulk 60gr soft or hollow points then it would be cheaper.
I worked out that loading the 20 practical back to 17HMR velocity with the barnes varmint grenades, will cost me about 45-50c per shot. Otherwise it will be about the same as the BRX.
My new 20 guage shotgun I havent started loading for until i build up my stock of shells so that will be interesting too!

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
I dont know where you guys are getting your projectiles from but you are getting em shitloads cheaper than I can. Im chasing Cleavers and the VRA at the moment
223 Hornady vmax id 30 cents at the VRA
308 Sierra MK is 52 cents at the VRA
I bought some 168gn MK's one week ago and they cost me 69 cents each.

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
Not what you were after I know but the tittle did say cheapest centrefire loads.
357mag with home cast projectiles less than 5c per shot
Duplicates the 22lr load but with a projectile weighing 400% more.
Exellent on rabbits and foxes at less cost than 22lr ammo.

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
I used to work it out.Now i refuse to,given the amount of rounds I shoot I'd probably have to find another hobby.

Re: Your Cheapest Centrefire Load.
Cheapest load would be as follows - 223 Rem
CCI primer - $45 per 1000 = $4.50 per 100
50gn Nosler shot - $90 per 1000 = $9.00 per 100
24gn of 2208 - $206 per 4kg = $8.00 per 100
Cost $21.50 per 100
Cost will go up when I buy some new powder, but still have plenty. The primers and projectiles where only bout about a month ago and price is still current. Doesnt take into account brass cost either.
Unfortunately my 223 doesn't get used as much as my 22-250. The load for that isn't that much more expensive especially considering the amount of shooting I do.
My spreadsheet works it out to be $25.50 per 100 using the same primers and projectiles. 4 bucks is well worth the extra bang
