With the recent talk of 25-06 as a varmint calibre and Rinso insight in to the 25-06 i took the plung and got me a new rig.
I did not want to spend the earth so.
Rifle Marlin XL 7 25-06 $648.00
Scope Bushnell elite 3200 7-21 x 40mm $390.00
scope caps (jury still out on scope caps) $40.00
Harris Bi Pod Had this already = Shit loads of fun....
Wanted a gun as an in between as i have a 22 Hornet ,204 and a 308 so i thought on game like pigs goats and fox why not.
No all i need is to get some load data and get to the range.
Here are a few pics.
Thanks Mick.

Re: New Varmint rig
The quarter bores do the job very well.
I think you'll have a lot of fun with it.
Be interested in how the Marlin shoots.Their lever actions were good.I have not worked on any of these newer synthetic stocked ones, bolt actioned ones.
good luck with the load developement.

Yeah should be interesting. Some heavier pills loaded up other then the usual 75gn'er would be interesting too.....wishful thinking......

Re: New Varmint rig
I have read good reports on the XL7. Only negative report I've seen was one of Marcus O'Dean's editorials in Sporting Shooter - seems he tried to float the barrel and the stock wasn't up to it.
Looking forward to the range and field reports.

Nice looking rig mate....ive been giving some serious thought into a 25-06 for the same purposes as you.
Would love to hear some feedback about how the 06 performs.
cheers mate
