Factory Varmint Rifle You Must Have?
Which Factory varminter do you want the most and in what cartridge?
For me it would probably be the Ruger VT in the Hogue stock.
Cartridge would be either 22-250 or 25-06 depending on my mood.

kjd,
How long is a piece of string ???
I would love a Rem XR 100 then again I like the look and feel of the Rem LVSS that said the Sendaro has a god style .. all that and we have not left the Rem factory yet.
Calibre I would love to see a factory chambered 22 BR & 6BR in a varmit package.
Now about Savage ...
cheers

native hunter,
kjd asked 'factory' varmit rifle so that sort rules the custom job out.
Yes the Savages look like a very tidy piece of kit would like one myself .. then again the 112 BVSS has always appealled to me...oops here we go again
cheers

Nothing really ..but if I was going to rebarrell a new XR 100 to 22BR or 6BR then I would probably replace the trigger with a Jewel or Shilen match trigger and well come to think of it I might as well make it a Lilja match grade barrel then we will need some high quality scope rings .... and so it goes ....Whats stoppin you from re-barrelling a XR-100 to 22BR/6ppc/6BR.

I would like something in .22/243 Middlestead with a long, slow twist barrel designed just to shoot little Berger 35gr MEF bullets at over 5000fps. I reckon that would just about splatter a rabbit into the middle of next week, specially if you get close enough so the bullet is still moving fast on impact.

Buggered if I know mate, never even bothered to look at the WSSM's although I really do like the WSM's. Haven't heard or read much that impresses me about the super shorts - the .223 is supposed to be a barrel burner and the .25 is a waste of space. Which leaves the .243 and that one is no Weatherby beater. When they stopped making Model 70's I lost interest in all of them.
Since the word FACTORY was specced, I'd have only two worth considering, the Savage 12VLP or the 12LRPV. They would do just about anything I'd care to do, at least when prairie dogging.
For predator hunting, one of the CZ Varmint rifles would be fun, since you don't shoot as many rounds at a time, the barrel weight isn't as important. Any one of the chamberings CZ does would suit me very well, excepting the Hornet, which doesn't come in a Varminter anyway.
I've had some sorry luck with Remington rifles, and they don't appeal to me in any way, any more.
