G'Day Matang,
I'd recommend a 50mm objective max for a hunting rifle, and the NF NXS in 5.5-22x50 would be ideal especially with the illum. recticle (tried to get one but another project came up, so settled for a Leu 8.5-25x50LRT ). However, the NXS illum. recticle cannot be adjusted for intensity like the NF 56mm BR models can be in the field. You have to remove the parallax adjustment cap and use a screw driver to alter the brightness, whereas the BR model as you will know is turn it on and wind it up to suit.
Having used the 8-32x56BR model with the DD recticle under the red light, I found it great to wind the illumination up to get just the right contrast for the dot against the red light for aiming. Brilliant! If the 56mm objective is not a problem I'd recommend the 8-32x56BR model, which is a pity really, I just sold mine to get the 12-42x BR model for 500m fly shooting!
Hope this helps
Cheerio Ned
