Forget the muzzle brake, 9 pound of lead ballast tames down 300 grn Sierra Match Kings, I let 25 go the other day and it was no more brutal then a mild .308.

Personally, I think you can keep your 6mm with their BC's in the mid 400s. I don't think there is a projectile on the market for another caliber with a BC of .765.

At least I will be able to see the holes.....

Well I was going to use the same 22BR as I use out to 1100 yds burning 29gns of powder behing a 68gn flat base, but those big bad 6mms might put me off and the muzzle blast of the big 30 cals might push the bullet back towards me.

One more thing, I am sure that my employer has mailed my work calender out to every event organiser, every fly shoot or decent shooting event happens to be when I am rostered on, what gives?

Rod i think he must want some other blokes to have a chance of winning a few things.
Seriously it does stink when that happens.
All through winter I get stuck with calving on weekends in spring its silage making.Arrh there's retirement to look forward too,no hang on some bugger lifted the age on that too.
Hope we both have better luck attending some events in the coming year.

Hey Mick --- that's a top projectile. When I initially read it I thought the length was .941. The trouble with shooting big pills is of course --BIG RECOIL. The 6mm boys have got the right idea --- low recoil, small powder charges and relatively low cost of projectiles.
I don't doubt AI's little 6mm will kick Sean's 338 butt.

Now come on AI, certainly your not that hard up for cash that you now have resorted to shooting for schooners?

First of all, I dont think the .338 will be ready for Bateman's Bay although I have it shooting under the inch I would like to fine tune the load.

I wouldn't want anyone to suggest that it is somewhat irresponsible to have a few quiet drinks at a shooting range. As for Schooners, I drink long necks. I will be certain to bring a few down. Do you like Irish Stout?

As for your 6mm, I am certain that it will shoot inside my .338 given that my .338 is still a factory rifle that remains un-trued with a factory barrel. The only addition? A heavy thumb hole stock with 9 pound of weight.

However I do intend to have a heavy barrel fitted at a later date and have the action trued and I am hoping that the planets align and a 12.5-50 X 56 Schmidt & Bender will fall from the sky.

By all means when the rifle is complete we will shoot for schooners. That may well be six schooners in total that I owe you. However, it wasn't that long ago that I would spill that much walking to and from the bar in the Botany Bay Hotel on a smoko break.

Could you handle six schooners?

c'mon Trevor,the rimfire is a great leveler just as hard or harder to shoot a good group/score with one of the frustrating little suckers as anything else.............................
and have no control over ammo as well.
Still would have liked to have met/shot against you guy's,I would have benefited from the experience greatly.
