What has changed about the .17 Rem being one of the very best rounds for foxes when skins are required??

Absobloodylutely Nothing!

If I wanted to blow them to bits I would hit them with my .240Wby.

Well I even disagree with that fox shooter. the 204 is a great fox gun but its definitely the ultimate fox gun. If you are talking flat shooting high velocity varmint cartridge its just in a long list of them. . . .

See there ya go . . You're nearly on the path to enlightenment!

Seriously though I'd own a 204 it wouldn't worry me but its as if the 204 is more godlike then the 243 and we know the 243 can't be toppled from that position

Yes but the something proper you refer to would only have given Keith even more 'ammo' to throw at me in my argument for the 204 about speed is king etc......, since it would have been bigger and slower than the original chambering (though not much slower  )

mmmm fox gun the last 10 years I have been using my 25.06 with 75gn V Maxs over 57grns of 2209 ... seems to stop them ok.

If shooting for skins the 17's are the go, small pills real fast.

Thanks for the replys gents,
I think the Omark will be used and a new barrel in 17 fireball fitted. I have a NXS 3.5-15x56 sitting on the Omark ATM ,so all I need is a new stock and Iam GTG.

Yeah mate opinions are welcomed but when you get an opinion that differs to your own don't think that just because I disagree with you means that I am somehow denying you of your opinion! You didn't upset anyone this is all theoretical BS anyways once you are in the field what works for you works whether it's a 204 22-250 or 338lapua mag! I just take objection to the fact that just because someone disagrees that it somehow means that their right to an opinion is taken away from you! Isn't that saying I can only have an opinion if it I'd in line with the original opinion?
