Confirmation & Notification of International IBS 1000yd BR Postal Match
All Australian LRBR competitors are advised that they have the opportunity to participate in a 1000 yd BR Postal Match with the Virginia 1000yd BR Club (USA).
The Postal Match statistics will be drawn from the results achieved at the regular scheduled 1000yd BR competitions held this month.
The match dates are –
Virginia- Matches #1 & #2 (2nd May) - results available for perusal on the Virginia 1000yd BR website.
Canberra- (31st May) - 2 target aggregate- LG & Hg
Brisbane- (24th May) - 2 target aggregate HG - targets 1 & 2 aggregate LG
Dependent upon actual competitor numbers in Australia, the proposed format is that, the overall Light Gun and Heavy Gun averages for Group and Score achieved by the Top 5 or 10 competitors will be compared with the results achieved by their Virginian 1000yd BR counterparts.
There is no cost of entry or associated fees. Commemorative Keeper Trophies will be awarded to Australian competitors for 1st Place for Group and Score in the HG & LG Classes. Additionally, all eligible competitors from the Australian clubs will receive complementary certificates.
Note - as this is an International event, only competitors who shoot their record target using the traditional IBS “blind” method, will be considered eligible for individual awards and for the inclusion of their results in the compilation of team averages.
Mr Jeff Stover (IBS President), Mr Lee Fischer (IBS 1000yd Delegate), Mr Willie Williamson (Virginia 1000yd BR Club President), Mr Shaun Heming (Virginia 1000yd BR Vice President) and the general membership body of Virginia 1000yd BR Club, are to be commended for their continuing support and promotion of IBS 1000yd BR and for their acceptance, co-operation and participation in these Inaugural International 1000yd BR Postal Matches.
So, ladies and gentlemen, regardless of whether you are a first time competitor to 1000yd BR or an old hand, I am sure that you would be made to feel most welcome to attend and compete in this historical event at either the Canberra or Brisbane venues.
It is also envisaged that, given appropriate support and interest, that these International IBS 1000yd BR Postal Match comparisons will become a regular bi monthly event on the Australian 1000yd Benchrest calendar.
Cheers
Dave Goodridge
P.S.
As an added incentive, visitors to Canberra, who are interested in F Class/Target Rifle matches, are reminded that on Saturday 30th May, the Canberra Rifle Club is shooting over the 700m distance.

Sounds good Dave.
Hopefully I will be at Canberra on the 31st.
I think we have 900 at Goulburn on the Saturday to shoot as well.
Have a good one,
Macca

Hi all , i for one would like to applaude Dave for his efforts in getting this Postal off the ground ..It has long been my belief that comparing results between shooters ,ranges, states and yes country's is what competition is all about and Dave's done it..It is with out a doubt a shame that Nth Qld can't be apart of this International Comp .. With still no shooting group to give us a home and me getting rustier by the day i guess i'll just have to see if i can get someone living in the south to shoot the match with my gun .. ..JR..Jeff Rogers

Thanks Dave for the work you have put in negotiating this and chasing it around. Should be an interesting comparison, and gives 1K BR in Aus some good exposure. I do really hope we have a good number of shooters wanting to take part in this. I definitely will be.

Yeah mate, I sympathise with your situation up north. In fact, the only negative part of this whole exercise is, that at the moment, the Townsville 1000yd BR members are unable to be involved.
Let’s hope that the problems can be ironed out ASAP.
BTW after checking out the Virginia results, I reckon we need all the help we can get.
Trevor
unfortunately circumstances, contributed to the late notification, but now that everything has been sorted, and all going to plan, yourself and others who are unable to make it for this month, maybe interested in attending the July or future events.
Grant and Mick - see you both on the 31st.

Hi Dave,
Look forward to seeing you on 31st.
hopefully i have sorted out my poor form of late.
At first i thought my front rest was the problem, then my eyes, and finally at little River after every shot i had to refocus to get a sight picture back so i now have a brand new 12x42 nf. Set it up on the HG at Wodonga on Sunday over 200mt an shot some nice groups.
The yanks have made it difficult for us but participating will be fun.
Cheers. Ian Davis

Re: Confirmation of International IBS 1000yd Br Postal Match
Well done there Dave.
Mate it has come a little late for me because i have decided to sell up everything, even the hunting crap and the club memberships not renewed. My days of shooting are gone and sitting here in Melbourne with extended family and friends i haven't seen in years has convinced me that there is more to my life than dealing with all the personalities in this sport.
I thought this was a great idea when you first told me about it some time back and like many i applaud your efforts. You and the others i have gotten to know through shooting over the years will always be good mates and hopefully we will meet up in some other capacity.
And Rinso good try there a while back mate, but my mind has been made up for some time. Talk to you all soon.

Maybe i am a bit slow or something, but is Brisvegas in on this shoot and are there any Brisvegas shooters on this forum?
Can anyone from there explain why they are not in it or what or who would exclude them from shooting? Am i missing something? The blokes up here are champing at the bit to get into this one.
