I built it for the HW80 .177 and it was made out of rusty 2mm plate from the top of a 44 gallon drum I turned into a weed incinerator. This then Sits at 45deg on top of an old Tin Box filled with sand to catch the lead.
Now after smashing it with the TTR1 .20 cal with only 100 pellets, I have punctured the plate in 2 places! Goes to show how accurate and powerful the TTR1 is at 50m!
I got a bit bored today on the farm while I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the Tractor tyres to fill with water, I decided to make use of an old BBQ plate that has been laying outside by the old brick BBQ. The BBQ has not been used for something like 20 years, and here begins Phase one of my Pellet Trap.
BBQ Plate is 5-6mm steel plate 55cm wide and ???80cm tall. I have only measured the width to get the center line when I was welding the handle!
The Plate has a bit of a sag in it but that is not going to matter.
The Plate is very heavy, and as it needs to be portable and moved around it had to have a Handle and fixed supporting legs. The less parts that are unattached the better.
Being on the Farm you basically make things out of scrap that is laying around.
The Handles and legs are made of 1/2in Gal pipe offcuts that have been laying next to the garage for the last 30 years! I attached the handle with some Sheep Mesh offcuts bent 90deg and just pinning the handle in place.
The Leg supports are bolted to the plate and swing back flat with the plate for storage or transport in the 4wd.

Considering that Pellets are made of lead and the impact of pellets onto steel makes lead fragments/dust etc, I do not want to contaminate the ground where I place the Trap so I will need to build a Sand Tray and possibly some Side Walls to catch splatter.
