.22 cal JSB Wizard pellets

Post by Yrrah »

I have a note from Pavel at JSB to say they hope the test samples of the new heavy .22 Wizard pellet will be off the production line this coming week. If all goes well I should be testing some fairly soon. The final weight is not stipulated but I was asking for around 24 gr.. We will have to wait and see.... I should be able to get get such a pellet out of JB OZ 1 at around 875 to 900 fps for 40 to 44 fpe. That is about the ideal velocity for long range work ( I presently feel ).

The .25 cal will follow but it all takes time. They were waiting on a suitable test rifle for the .25s of which there will eventually be two; a mid 20s gr and a 30+ gr. So sit back, good things come to those who wait.

JSB have.. not failed us and they are doing their best to continue to give us the world's best hunting and long range target pellets. .......

I have sent Pavel a pic of the 50 m group shot last Saturday .. 3.58 mm ctc in their lingo ... to put up for motivation for the staff to continue aiming for the stars :D
Kind regards, Harry.

Daisy, the very last time I shot it ... Da daaa ... a sub inch 100 yrd group. It is a most reliably accurate shooter David and gives nothing away to any other rifle on the market ........ Hang on to yours! Kind regards, Harry.

Wizard news Harry,I have a query in regard to the new pellets.
My Theoben TTR1 is currently shooting the 18 grain heavies at an average MV of 810 fps for 26 fpe with quite good accuracy. In your opinion with the new Wizards coming in at a probable 24 grains would it be a good idea to up the power output of the TTR nearer to a 30 fpe level to try to enhance the guns performance with them.
Cheers Ray

If you can get 30 fpe with 18 gr Exacts it would not surprise me if you could get 32 fpe with the new pellets which would be a very usable 775 fps or so... But only time will tell Ray. We will just have to see how the test pellets perform. ....... I should be able to shoot them at anything up to near 900 fps so will be able to give a wide range of results ......... Kind regards, Harry.

Thanks for your input Harry. That was the way I was thinking, with a bit of tinkering on the TTR 32+fpe should be attainable with the new Wizards. Even if cant get output that high without changing the regulator for a fast flow fitting it definitely will be another good hunting pellet. I will wait on your tests before I start playing with things.
Cheers,Ray.

I can't believe the UK has only just acquired those. Well better late than never.... Everyone who has used them in rifles that shoot the 15.9 gr Exacts seems to say what I wrote at the outset when I tested them in March last year. They are the equal in accuracy, shoot to the same elevation at least to and beyond normal extended air rifle range and generally give up to 2 fpe more at muzzle and progressively more down range.

I am expecting the much heavier Wizard JSBs any time now for tests. That I am looking forward to !!! .. Kind regards, Harry.

Hi Neil,
To echo Harry's comment they certainly took their time on getting the 18,s in to the UK.
You will be in for a pleasant surprise when you shoot them Neil they are a great step up for JSB.
Now on to the "Wizards". I reckon they will out do the dear old Kodiaks which have been one of my favourite pellets in both my Theobens and the FX. Harry's tests will be of great interest as always when he gets them.
have fun!
Ray. :D

Hi Ray and Harry, yep we are behind here, had the same delay with .177 heavies and .20's, don't know why. But at least they are here :hunting: .Last report of stock is 90 mile away, so I'll be on the dog and bone to track some closer. We wait in anticipation for your reports on the 21gn heavy. I know a few that won't be budged from barracudas and bisleys, so it will be interesting times, not seen such pellet development since premiers hit the scene in the early 90's. Roll on jsb :D

The extra heavy .22 JSB test pellets are 25.4 gr. Some were sent to me three weeks ago but they are on a wool clipper it seems and may be still punching down the west coast of Africa.
You will know when they get here and I have had time to do some work with them.

The .25 cal JSBs are still a couple of weeks away from being in a testing stage. I have patience  In the meantime I am still refining things with the .25 cal Bowkett barrel and Baracudas/ Kodiaks. Progress is coming. .... Kind regards to all who love shooting with recyclable air ............. Harry.

What sort of Velocity/FPE are you getting??

What sort of shot count before a fill is required?

Thanks

Interesting pellet weight Harry are jsb looking to corner the eujin pellet arena. Might be of interest to air wolf owners when they get going in production.
