Went down to the gun shop today to get acquainted with a few rifles. the only cz 527 they had was the synthetic american for $1000. It shouldered like a dream and it felt really balanced. overall i was very impressed. Then i had a squiz at the tikka t3 light and varmint stainless which both felt really good! I was hoping one of them felt crap so my choice would be easy but they both felt good! sigh i hate making decisions.

cheers

go back and ask if you can dry fire them to test the trigger. The tikka has a very good factory trigger. Engage the set trigger of the CZ by pushing it forward. Then try pulling it. If that doesnt blow you away then buy the Tikka

IMO both of these rifles prove that the yanks are more after marketing $$$ than making decent rifles :( and either one will not disappoint you provided you look at all the bits under the hood so to speak.

If they both feel good to you (cz and tikka) take a squiz at their barrel twists, mag capacity, etc as (for me at least lol) it will be those details that help you make your mind up (I think the CZ varmint kevlar has a 1:9 and the tikka varmint has a 1:9 barrel also... ?? ) If you handload and want to get into the heavier projectiles, this can make a difference down the track.

I haven't used a CZ centerfire, but if the quality of the CF is like on their rimfires, you wont have any problems at all and will look great as it gets older (IMO) . I used to have a Tikka M595 which was a great rifle, but after a while, the long bolt throw on the Tikka really bugged me as it was a lot of wasted movement and bolt space for a .223 (I think that Tikkas only come in 1 action length, whereas the CZ's come in a small and large action depending on the caliber)

Aesthetics aside, if you want a rifle that cops a bit of a ding here and there, I'd maybe go with the tikka due to the plastic stock (Someone, somewhere described the T3 stocks as being designed by an Italian designer on crack though lol) Wooden stocks sure look pretty, but i'm too scared to rest them on rocks and barbed wire fences and such to take a shot :?

Hi Richta, on this link is a review of the CZ527 Synthetic in .223. Check it against the rifle you are looking at. If the one you have in mind is the same (with a HS Precision stock, full length bedding block) there is absolutely no comparison between it and a Tikka T3. The stock alone would be worth about AU$600. If it is the same as the revue rifle I would snap it up quickly, because if you don't it will be gone!!

Personally I think the wood is much nicer, but it's hard to go wrong with a CZ527

yeah id like to get my hands on a wood one but the budget is really tight at the moment. and the 200 i save on the synthetic can be put into a better scope.

Im still so so on the CZ rimfires but the 527's are a nice piece of kit. Ive only played with the synthetic one in store and i dont care for the stock, but have seriously contemplated getting it for the donor action. The set trigger is absolutely porn, even though i would probably replace it with an aftermarket one. Smooth to work, havent seen down the barrel but nothing a good polish and run in wouldnt fix surely. I dont know about accuracy guarantee but its the one thing that I do like about tikkas. I think i would go CZ, even though it could take a little more setting up to get how i wanted it.

I'm in Adelaide. They are 1350 dollars from my lgs (for the American) and i don't even think they stock them anymore. I was talking to one of the guys there and he said they're just not very popular so they don't get them in anymore. IF i could find one for those prices knackers id definitely choose the cz!
