I reckon it don't matter a pinch of shit what size the holes are. :D

I've seen foxes shot with a bit of steel can with two nail holes in it. .

I'm gunna go out to the shed now and make one of those shotty whistles and try it tomorrow morning.

Had a chat to an old fella the other day and he showed me a cone type whistle that you blow across - said it was for when foxes go off the other whistles. Anyone seen or know where to get one?

Here is a picture of a FOX BARKER.
I have had this for over 30 years but never used it much.
Have had foxes bark back at me and sounded like they were closer at the end of the session than when I started the Barking. It was at night out the back yard. I wenr outside about
9.00 PM to get some firewood when I heard a fox barking. So I grabbed the Barker and gave it a wherl.
I recon there was about 3 responding and about 70-80 yards out would have been the closest. On youtube there is some clips of foxes barking that will give you a idea of their noise. I have heard them Bark a warning to their young but otherwise only ever at night. Next mating season I will give it ago early in the mornings and late afternoons and see if I can master it. GETTING THE MALE / FEMALE NOISES IS THE KEY I THINK.

Yeah mating season will be intersting. Im going to give it a bit more of a go as I have howler and barking style calls at my disposal.

Last year i heard a vixen howling to protect her young when she saw me in the spotty. Most spine tingling noise you can possibly hear in the dark.

I made one of these whistles a while ago but it didn't work, I reckon it was because the holes were wrong... I spent a couple of days trying to get the bastard to work and couldn't get it so I gave it to my mate who can blow a tenterfield and he couldn't get it either. Eventually I drilled the holes too big and stuffed it completely!

Finally got off my arse and bought a Tenterfield (Don't have a drill at my new place). Within about 20secs of having it out of the wrapper I had it going (you're born with skills like that  ). Took it for a try out today but couldn't turn a trick, I blame the bitterly cold wind that howled all afternoon... WHAT HAPPENED TO SUMMER??!?!

This is my boy, 14, at work.

He makes them out of Colourbond samples, from Bunnings.

The big hole is just the original hole, he uses for the cord.

He has made dozens of them.

Each one has a different sound.

As you can see, he just makes them on the lawn. LOL.
