HW77 .177 opinion of rifle for Metallic Silhouette

Post by flmath »

Hello all, I am thinking of taking up Metallic Silouette with an air rifle. I have been advised that a HW77 would be a suitable gun. Can I please have your opinions.

Is 177 a suitable calibre or are heavier pellets such at 20 or 22 more suitable. :rifle:

Thanks

Flmath,

The HW77 or HW97 would do the job the difference is the 77 comes with open sights.
A lot of shooters use high end precharged guns in 177. I do know a bloke that uses a Gamo in 177 and he goes ok.
I use a FX Excalibre precharges in 22 cal.as that's what I have. There is not a lot of advandge in the heaver cal as I've turned animals on their stands.

If you have a chance to go to a couple of shoots most shooters there will let you try their gun. If you come to Canberra you can share my Excalibre for a match or I can bring my R9 177. It is a HW 95 sold by Beeman that I got from Lewis at Beeman Australia. Lewis is the best person in Australia to buy from, as his service is the best there is.

This offer is open to any one on AV and interested in having a go at silhouette. I would be happy to share my rim fire and centre fire for a match at Canbreea. Just let me know.

have you tried AG silly wets yet??

Where is your local club??

Have you gone down there too see and ask for a bit of a try out
there will be guys willing to give you a few shots

there might also be an add for a suitable rifle for sale on the club boards or the range boards or in the club mag

just an idea

If you were in Vic I would lend you one of my AG's to have a go with

Went with a HW80 second-hand. No one wanted to surrender up their HW77. I take it over to Lewis for a work over and then look out toadies.
