A-US International Postal 1000yd BR challenge

A-US 1000yd BR Postal Shoot

The recent initiative by the Nth Queenslander’s to introduce 500m Flyshoots to the Texans, caused me to wonder if there would be sufficient interest here to offer a reciprocal postal International 1000yd BR Challenge between Australian and American clubs .

I am totally open to the ideas and suggestions of others, but perhaps something along the following suggestion could be discussed and modified as necessary. (Or, in the spirit of consultation and that the majority rules, if an alternate idea has overwhelming support, that is what would be adopted.)

• All Australian 1000yd BR clubs agree to a particular time period in which the results of one of their normal scheduled competitions are submitted.

• Similarly, an approach is made to an American club or clubs to nominate a regular event for result comparisons over the same time period.

• A negotiated system is determined in which the top 3,5,10 etc results ( or whatever is mutually acceptable) from each participating Australian club is collated and calculated to determine the overall Group Average and Score Average for both Light Gun and Heavy Gun classes.

These results would then be compared against the American average groups and scores for the same classes. I am fully aware that the Americans have a shoot off system and we don’t, but, hopefully an acceptable compromise procedure can be secured.

• Personally, I believe that something like this can only produce positive benefits for the sport of 1000yd BR in Australia. Apart from the interest and fun factors, it may motivate more competitors to become involved and from an International perspective, substantially increase the Australian profile in this event.

Note - As all clubs here and in the US would be running these shoots as part of their set programmes, the only organisation required (assuming that prior acceptance and support for the concept is reached) would be for all participants agreeing to publicise their results, or send them to a central venue for compilation.

Additionally as this is proposed as a reciprocal idea to the Texans abiding by our Fly Rules, it would logically follow that, only the results of Australian 1000yd BR shooters who agree to use our traditional IBS shooting rules would be included and used for comparison purposes.

Thinking out aloud, perhaps the month of July maybe a possibility as Canberra, Brisbane and Townsville (if their LRBR has been approved by then??) normally have designated competitions at that time.

Anyway, any responses or input would be most appreciated, either on this forum, or by PM, or we could meet up in Canberra next week to discuss the proposal.

Alternatively if there is no support or interest, no problems here!!!

Some of us, still have the Bathurst/ Narromine verses Muckadilla/Townsville “State of Origin” 1000yd BR challenge to look forward to. :D :D

Sounds like an entertaining idea to me. I'd be up for it.

Not that my scores or groups are likely to do too well most of the time in any case. hahahah

I might be right off the planet here, but i seriously doubt that Townsville will get any 1K matches this year, if ever. The only way i could see some of our guys getting a look in would be to go down to Brisvegas for a match. With our range restictions the way they are, we cannot even do load developement at any range, so i seriously doubt anyone from our way would be competitive any ways.
Idea is sound Dave, and i do fully support it, but i think we up here will be watching it from the sidelines. Myself, this year was long ago going to be dedicated to shooting FClass, so i am out either way.
