Thanks for that, I cant find the topic, do you remember where it is?
Re: The new breed
Alan is not far away from having the first of the new stocks. He has been working away for quite a while since i did my bit on the plug and since then there have been quite a few setbacks with perfecting the mold because of the angles etc that have been incorporated into the concept. He has made two of the four inch fore end versions that have been a trial on the external finish and both of them, especially the second one with its blue and white fleck finish, look brilliant.
The LR stock is being done first up with its four inch fore end, and some time in the future there will be a slightly shorter 3 inch fore end version for BR, Hunter and FClass.
When Alan has finished, the stocks will be completely inletted, have a recoil lug, bolt cut out and trigger bow recess all cast in the one layup process for maximum strength. At no point will there be any compromise of the outer skin. I will let Alan fill you in on the internal structural frame that he has come up with to retain the maximum rigidity of the stock from front to back. Finished weight for the LR version will be about 950 grams. The others will be considerably lighter. There is no requirement to paint these stocks as they will be finished in resins of many colour choices or combinations. Basically these stocks will just require an action like a Rem 700, Omark, Bat etc glued or bedded in and a trigger bow screwed to the bottom and away you go. If you scratch it, just wet rub it and give it a polish and it will look like new.
I do not have pics of the finished product unfortunately, but i do of the plug not long after it came out of the mill. These are not the final lines but are not far from it. Sorry about the quality of the pics and in no way do they show the true proportions of the stock as for some reason they appear quite squat. Alan or i will get a pic of the finished stock up as soon as we can, hopefully done by a better photographer. ie not me. Anyways, you can get a clear idea of the keeled butt, the broken back and the offset fore end. What you can't get an idea of is the actual size or length of the stock as it is more than 4 inches longer than most any BR stock i have seen and we had a bunch of stocks here at home to look at for desirable features. Or undesirable. Just as a matter of interest, the plug made of light marine 7 ply weighs in at just shy of 2 KG. Both Al and i have often been tempted to inlet it and throw an action in and shoot it. Sadly it has to remain the master plug, but boy was it hard to resist after we tracked it on bags to see how stable it was.

Re: The new breed
Hi all
It is great to see the interest in my progress albeit rather slow at the moment As outline by TZ I have been working feverishly on this as I require one of these stocks to get my rifle back together for the new season - so the delays in us getting shooting may be a bit of a bonus These stocks so far are made of fiberglass with a gelcoat finish on the outside however future ones I would like to get into carbon fiber
My target weight was to make the stock 1kg so that I could put a stretcher tube and muzzle brake on my current rifle and still make weight in LG with a nightforce scope. Internally I have put together a ribbing / rail system which is critical to provide the extra strength required to prevent any flexing of the stock with it being such light weight overall.
I have actually made two stocks so far and have had a couple of teething issues with them which is only to do with the gelcoat finish on the outside and is now sorted out. Structurally they turned out perfectly as I achieved my desired weight and strength. Over the next couple of days I will be trying to make another which hopefully will be third time lucky and see good one produced.
I will post pictures when I get it finished.

Re: The new breed
Great stuff Albow I have an Omark project in the wings and would be interested in one of your stocks - do you have an idea of price yet ?
Re: The new breed
That looks fantastic and I particularly like the idea of a dropin finished job.
Re: The new breed
I have just been over to see Al and look at the stock he made up yesterday. This stock is for Als Omark LG and has been done in a metallic black that should come up a treat. Apart from the sprue lines, the white lines you can see in the photos, which will vanish after a good wet rub, the finish on this stock is flawless, no pin holes, no streaks, no wrinkles no nothing. A real credit to Alan and his perseverance to get it right.

Hi Sam
The price that these stocks will be selling for is $600.
As shown by TZ my latest stock that came out pretty much perfect so it was a case of third time lucky
The pictures of the stock are from the mould with a rough clean up with a bit of work still to do. A bit more information on this stock......
As outline previously it weighs in at just under a kilo and was built with that as a target. To achieve that they are filled with a pouring foam which means they are really only suitable for a glue in (which I use) however I have found another resin that I will be able to use for stocks where people will want a solid base to be able to screw in an action. The only down side to this is that the stock will end up weighing a couple of hundred grams heavier which I don't think will be an issue as my old LG stock made of laminated ply weighs 1.7kg and the solid bedding area will only be a few hundred grams.
The pictures that TZ has posted is not the drop fit that he mentioned previously as I was too eager to make one of the stocks to finalise all the preparation of mould inserts except the one for the recoil lug I will be inletting it this week end, giving it the final cut and polish then will post some detailed photos for you to all look at.

Re: The new breed
Kenny, when it's a 7 mm and has a tube fitted, you won't need the planets aligned What you should see is that good grouping you had before extend through a wider window of accuracy. Post your results mate so we can all see the progress. A couple of pics of the rig too if you can. I hear it looks a million bucks and i am keen to see the stock you finally settled with.

Re: The new breed
TZ,
Better make that next Saturday to test on.....this unemployed lifestyle is bloody hectic...doesn't pay well but
I have some MK's loaded up at the top of the sweet spot I found when she was nekid....and some a bit hotter and some hotter still, hopefully I can get the boly open after ....can't wait to end this saga ...it's been hanging around like a fat sister in law
The stock is nothing special just some of that leopard wood with a little tiger tail sandwiched in
