Rimfire Fly at Silverdale

Top day yesterday guys------ even though it hardly stopped drizzling all day, some very impressive scores were shot. Hardly a breath of wind all day.
I haven't shot the rimfire Fly for some years and I was amazed with the high scores that most shooters achieved.
Winner was Eddie with a score of over 270, mine was a personal best of 243.2 ( 2 flys--yippy ), which placed me 4th.
Maybe I'll think seriously about a new rimfire---- The new Anschutz's look fabulous

I didnt know they were having a rim fire fly shoot at Silverdale. I will have to get hold of a 2009 program.

Rimfire 200m Fly shoot every second Saturday of the month. It's run by Mr David Dundas.

I think you'll find you are only shooting 200yds at the Fly.

Giddat Steve, I honestly don't know---- I guess I'd better ask the range Manager, or I'll just take my rangefinder next time.

200 yards -200mtrs at that distance a few yards does not matter.

Hey Native,it would be about 19 extra yards,near another 9% in extra distance,might make a difference or maybe not .

It does make a difference...if you are near the end of your elevation adjustment at 200yds you wont make it to 200m.

I have asked Barry (Range Manager) and all the Silverdale shooters about the range and it is definitely 200yds....it would be interesting to know how far back the sandstone wall is from the firing line....if you take out your range finder let us know...I will be there to shoot the Harry Luhr shoot in March so I might go down range and check it out.

That is really disappointing, all my groups just increased in size by 10%, always thought it was 200m.
Still am not absolutly convinced because all my trajectory calculations seemed to correlate to it being in metres not yards.

I may be wrong...but I've have spoken to several benchrest shooters from Silverdale that have been shooting there since it opened and they all tell me it's not possible to shoot 200m there today...in the old days they used to shoot longer distances there up the left hand side of the range but not anymore because of safety issues...every range I've shot on in the last 10years have been 50m, 100yds & 200yds...these are the distances set out to shoot most benchrest competitions in the SSAA rule book in Australia...if it is only 200yds you cannot claim any records you shoot.
