Thats right, get in and have a go! Had lunch and a beer with Stewie today, had a chat about this little comp, honestly, what do you have to lose! I'm in!

300m freehand... should I post the target now? I suspect it will look the same after as before shot at! Sho cares if they are splatted all around it! Mine will be for sure... thats the fun! Its not benchrest here now fellas!

Go the 20VT!

Cheers

Native i am not taking the rule to far that is what it is and you are right you cannot site in prior to shooting and you do not have the right to shoot paper on your own place. ring the number and ask, the person on the other end will not know and will check with their supervisor and come back and tell you the same as i already have. Dont take it the wrong way i do not care when and where you shoot i am just informing you that what you are doing may be illegal in some other states also for those that care. I did not beleive it at first either but at least checked to find out.

Rang Firearms Registery today re - shooting at targets on private property.
Spoke to a lovely young lady, but she was unable to direct me to the ruling which forbids this.

After several attempts to have me look it up for myself, I questioned her more closely.

finally she conceded that "Sighting in of firearms is OK" providing -
and she quoted "Must not be within immediate public access/roads/houses"
also "Be aware of surrounding area"
further "Make sure of your background"

All common sense really (mostly firearm licence questions) and I would be surprised if anyone didn't comply!

Next thing you know, a ANTI will read over this, then film their nextdoor neighbour shooting a target on their property! Lucky the registry wont be able to find the info!!!!

When posting, think of a third party reading and if it can have any repercussions... keep it in the back of your mind!

Got to just wait until some cooler weather and I'll give these targets a go!

Cheers

I'm hoping to get to the range at the weekend. If it isnt blowing a gale I'll give mine a go. Best I am hoping for is four holes in each, pretty sure I'll use the 6/250 but its to heavy for offhand, wave and shoot!

C'mon Trev you've gotta be able to get five in at 100.
Just think of it as a economy graph and sqeeze the next time it's on the rise.

C'mon guys have a go!
This is definitely not a serious comp - it's just for fun.
I've sent out ten lots of targets and I'd like to make it at least 20 for a good cross reference.
It is basically a field shooting exercise so shot placement won't be keyhole.
There will be a lot of people - myself included - who probably won't hit the target (standing offhand) at 300 meters.
There will be bench rest rifles and carry arounds from 20 cal up to 338.
Everyones welcome to have a go
Maybe it will even give us an idea of the best all round rifle?
But I don't want to open that can of worms until the targets are in however.

Do you need watching?
Mate it's not for sheep stations so it's up to you - I'll take results at face value.
But 300 might be a bit far for a HMR?

17HMR your targets will be on the way today.

Ogre - probably a seperate comp - I imagine that you'd want different targets, mouse, sparrow, pigeon, rabbit?
What distances would you want? Maybe you could organise - it's not hard, just stick your neck out or maybe it should be put your foot in your mouth like I did! :?

Good link here to field shooting positions that stinkitup posted - http://ausvarmint.kjd84.com/forum/viewt ... =25&t=6361" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
