Just treated myself to a "Smart Reloader" SR750 Digital powder scale. I have a RCBS beam balance scale but I thought I would update a bit.
My first weighing job as a try out for the scale was to check the weights of a tin of the new JSB .22 Jumbo Heavy 18.1 grain pellets, with a view to do some long range plinking and taking Harry Fullers advice I got stuck in.
The factory stated weight for the pellets is 18.1 grains, the tin of 250 pellets came out as follows.
Approximate estimate of 50% were right on 18.1 Grn; 49% were 18.2 Grn,18.4 Grn,18.5 Grn and 1% were 17.7-17.9 Grn.( This would of course vary from tin to tin).
It was an interesting exercise and a little of a surprise for me on the variance of weights, but, in the mass production of the pellets it is inevitable that the weights would vary due to methods used. You just cannot hand make them.
So I have my weighed pellet batches Long range here I come.
Later Ray.

Hi Greg,Predator wrote:how long did it take you!!?

The weighing exercise took me about an hour with my fiddling about, but worth the effort.
You at least know when using each batch that the weight is constant which does help with some predictable pellet performance.
Unfortunately The TTR 1 .22 had to go back to Dr. Reinhold for some teething troubles to be attended to, a possible dickie regulator could be the problem. We will see after the good Doctor has consulted with the factory.
It is an excellent gun with a very good Synthetic stock was shooting really well for a while, the best hitting power test I gave it was shooting Rimefire Pistol size Met Sils at 77 Metres and it clobbered 'em well. I wanted to do a serious chrony session on it but it got sick before I could get to it.
hopefully I will get it back soon.
Merry Xmas Mate,
Ray.

In regard to the TTR1 hiccup,
Today I got news from the good Dr. Reinhold that the problem has been found, the hammer spring pressure was wound on a bit too much which caused the valve to leak air as the bottle pressure changed. So having been attended to by the good doctor all should be well from here in.

Merry Xmas All.
