39gr SBK
Hi all
After hearing everyone talk about these 39g SBK for the mighty 204r i thought id give them a try so i went out and got a box, now the Q im interested to know what loads people are useing for this pill ie: case, powder, gr's and primer
ATM im shooting a 40g vmax with 28g of AR2206H behind it useing hornady brass and fed gold primer this load works verry good but hey nothing wrong with trying to punch smaller holes in the paper hey

ATN, i run
Remington brass, rem 7.5 primers and 27.5grns of 2206H, dont know what speed it gives me but have shot several groups that are sub minute of rabbit eye.
I know i allways post this pic so later if the wind dies i will go and give it a run off a proper rest and bags instead of jacket and bipod.

norma brass, 2206h rem 7 1/2 primer. Tried from 27 to 28gn. All loads have four at least, if not 5 touching. 28gn too hot in my rifle though. Oh but i had the same result with 40vm and 40 berger.

ATN,
39s pushed by 28gr of 2206H with rem 7 1/2s, are it for me now. Sub .2 MOA if I do my bit. Head shots on bunnies out to where ever.
all the best,
Flyer

Re: 39gr SBK
g'day guys,
i'm a new owner of a 204 and at the moment i'm fiddling around with 39gr blitzkind and 40gr vmax. 2206h works best and i'm down to 0.5" with both projies. using winchester brass and they are rubbish to be honest. still getting massive velocity spread and groups at a 100 might be fine but no good later on down the track.
what is the better brass to use, i'm looking at hornady cos i can get it easily but norma i'm told is as good as lapua although lapua don't do 204.
where could i get norma cases from?
cheers and merry xmas.

Re: 39gr SBK
the only thing is it's a brand new tikka t3 super varmint that i own, bit hesistant at malesting it. it's a heavy bastard though but so impressed with factory ammo accuracy, sub moa to moa groups. i must be doing something wrong with my hand loads cos they shoot no better than .5 moa.
i've looked into the 20 tactical and the 20 practical and both are great cartridges.
i even thought of getting a smith to machine the back of the chamber/barrel and setting it to 223 case length and do the same with the 204 dies to use 223 lapua brass. but i figure the taper of the 204 case might cause a problem doing it that way too.
still it would be easy to leave it as a 204 and source some norma brass.

Re: 39gr SBK
Try the nosler custom brass mate it might work for you. Just remember if you want the ultimate accuracy from it, you will want to uniform primer pockets and deburr flash holes on any brass.
