Well done Brendan. Stuarts always there up the sharp end like every year. Would have been a good contest in some tough winds from what Tommy told me.

I still haven't had the Bartleins chambered up, as I have a new Stolle Panda action here, but no stock delivered as yet. I can't do anything until I get the stock, so that I can work out the final weights of the barrels. Can't see it being ready by Canberra in January, but hope to Take it to South Africa for the World Championship in June.

See you in Canberra.

G'Day Kenny,
yeah Jimbo is a bit of a pest but his jokes are worth it!  But, I dont think he was using his flash barrel.

It was probably one of the worst day of wind I've ever shot in.........and remember I shoot at Little River!

For 200yds, I actually wound on 1.5moa and was still holding on the edge of the paper! For those folk who aren't familiar with BR thats 3" of windage on the scope and holding another 4", so a total of 7" of drift (that was in the letups not a full value gust!) All that just to lob the bullets into the moth ball (1" bull) at 200yds. I reckon there was at least 4" or more difference from a let up to a max gust in wind drift.........or another way of putting it was 7" of aim off and at least +/-2" for min to max wind speed at 200yds.

PVM was using a fast twist 6mm dasher and 105 bergers to win the yardage! Later we had a delegates meeting and I jokingly proposed we ban fast twist barrels and all bullets over 70gn!

The look on poor ol' Petes face was priceless...........well maybe not as I reckon he'll nail my credit card hard on my next order from him

Well since you asked........

No, I wasn't using the flash barrel and set up from Brisbane the week before. That barrel was a near new Kreiger on the BAT and has all the hallmarks of a "hummer" if there is such a thing.

For Portland I took the old 1990 vintage Stolle Teddy, which currently runs a pair of 13.5 twist Kreigers in LV and HV weight. These barrels will happily devour any of about three powders. Because of the very windy conditions, I chose to use V 133, as this gives me about 60 fps more than the 2219 load, but is a little harder on cases. If I use 2219 I can go through the whole match without having to use a bump die at all.

The LV is an extraordinary barrel - I used it at 200 yds on Sunday and it just 'cut wind' group after group. It's done about 900 rounds, and through the Hawkeye borescope still looks brand new.

Not sure which one I will use in Canberra - life is too short to use 'iffy' ones!
