Two mates have the CZ527 in 22 Hornet and a third in 22 K-Hornet. All are little tack drivers and easy to reload. Just recently I was thinking about purchasing a CZ527 in 22 Hornet as a light-weight bunny rifle with more reach than the 22LR.

Just a hijack (sorry Johny!) while we are on the topic of hornets:
Would any of you blokes know if the 17 fireball cartridge would fit in the Ruger M77 hornet action with the rotary mag? Or are the case dimensions all wrong?

The 17 Fireball is a necked down 221 Fireball which is a tad shorter than a 222. The 17 Fireball will not fit in the M77 Hornet action. But a 17 Ackley Hornet will perfectly.feralbuster wrote:Just a hijack (sorry Johny!) while we are on the topic of hornets:

Re: 22 Hornet, what do you think of them?
Hey Drew, yes a 17 ackley hornet would fit, but that would mean painfully forming the brass! Sounds like the CZ527 is probably the best platform for this cartridge, in keeping with the idea of a really short action. Just hopeful on the Ruger, I have one in 22WMR which I like a lot. I'd also forgotten that the hornet is a rimmed case, whereas the fireball is a rimless...
