Re: Scope mounted light
300yards at night? What scope are you using?
Re: Scope mounted light
Thanks matang i will give that a go.
Re: Scope mounted light
I can do 300yds at night with my 170 and scope. I have a 6-24x56, and I think having a 56 rather than 50 makes a big difference. That being said this isnt a $1k scope, its only a $220 scope, but still seems to be the goods. Illuminated reticle seems to make a difference when at that kind of range at night, but make sure its adjustable brightness, nothing worse than a really bright red crosshair and darkness behind it.R.J. wrote:300yards at night? The only thing I have noticed is that at the 300yd mark at night I have to get the focus pretty right. My scope has the focus as a turret on the left side of the scope, so if you have a bipod its really easy to adjust it without moving too much.
So far I haven't really shot a lot at the 300yd mark, but have used the setup to check on animals at long range.

Re: Scope mounted light
I have a VXIII 8.5-25x50 and can see out to 300m even on 8.5x.
I have never shot at that range under spotlight but can certaily see foxes and sheep with 14-25x

Used it for years dont go out after red dogs with out it. The clip on red filters are too dark this is perfect. We can shoot foxes out to 300 yards in our red light. Give it a try.
Thanks for the idea Matang. I am not a big fan of the red filters but I will give the cellophane a go. Might go all out and do the head lights and driving lights as well, see if it makes a differernce.
