My New Torch/Spotlight
Hi Just thought I would show everyone my new torch, well I have had it for a few months now but finally got it setup how I wanted it.
The torch is a Fenix TK11 put the specs at the bottom, basically its a cree LED, 2 modes 225lumens and 60Lumens with a long throw spot reflector. I picked this up when the dollar was strong from the US with a charger and two 18650 batteries, end AU$ was $120
I wanted something compact to mount on the scope specially for the 22 and my R9 from lewis without being overly large and heavy. In my tests so far it easily lights up tree's at 100-150 meters away and this was a fairly moonlit night. Plenty of throw to see targets for subsonics and the air rifle.
To mount it I bought a laser mount of ebay which uses a QD 1 inch ring to a fitting with Weaver style dovetails (think thats what its called) thats meant to attach to your barrel. I have mounted the torch in the barrel housing with the dove tails. I was worried the QD ring was too low so picked up a set of hight QD rings to suit as well, this was all off of ebay and was less than $20.
Anyway the Torch just fits in its housing and I put the rings on my brno and R9 scope this morning and so far it looks like it should be the goods, tested in my garage closed up and dark and plenty of light at POA at 15 meters so will test it tonight at longer range. Here's some pics, not bad for less than $150, if it proves itself I will prob use it on the old 6.5 as well for those later arvo walks that you end up walking back in the dark in

More pics of it on the R9, should note it lights just the top bit of the objective lens which on the R9 is handy as you can see what AO your set at.

Video or pics of it at night would be awesome mate! Does it spot well or does it flood out a fair bit being LED?

Re: My New Torch/Spotlight
Thanks, I'll try and get some pics of it in use. The reflector is smooth Keith and designed for a spot and throw rather than spill. It has a definet spot, really its a spotlight, even on general mode it will light up things at 50 meters. Fenix have a tk10 which is a orange peel reflector designed for spill and not a spot, but it doesn't take the 18650 batteries either.
I like to be able to us rechargables so this was a no brainer, couldn't be happer with it actually.

Re: My New Torch/Spotlight
Nice mate very nice. Do you know who distributes them in Australia?
Having the two power levels is awesome as you can switch it over when walking and juice it up when you are spotting!
How do you find the two modes? is it enough to see eyes on the lower power?
This would be great mounted to a shotty for night fox whistling on foot!

Re: My New Torch/Spotlight
Keith, not sure on an Aussie Distributor, Think I got mine from https://www.4sevens.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; there is alot of different torches there. The low is enough to pick eyes up and Identify targets but not out to 200m, 50-100 maybe, would be nice on a shotty
Lochmohr the rattlesnake looks good too.
I think I just liked the compactness of it and for around $100 at the time the dollar was good that included batteries and charger so was happy.

Re: My New Torch/Spotlight
Okay so took some photo's out the back tonight, these were taken on a panasonic DMC-FZ5, 8 sec exposure 100 ISO and all that has been done is re-sized and named using irfan view. The battery in the camera isn't real fresh either, actually its still the first one that was charged so a little down from full but still very good.
Moons couple days after full I think so this is just so you know it was clouded over and dark but quite bright tonight.
These are on Turbo mode the tree up close is around 35-40 meters and the tree out the back is 100-110 (focused at 130 yards on my AO scope) On turbo you can easily make out branches in the tree, trunk etc so if there were/are eyes it picks them up good. You can see it has a large soft spill with a very pointed spot, no black holes in it either.

Okay these are on General mode, can see not the same brightness but easily 50 meters and eyes out further. Its still lighting the tree up at 100 or so meters but can't make out the branches quite as well but would prob find those shiny dinner plate eyes.
