Sounds like your doing a neck up job...why not just make the dies from the std ones....bore the neck out ?

Mate I am far from a 'wildcatter' I just took advise from others in the know and out it popped

Kenny,
Pretty much spot-on. Lee dies are easiest to hone out as they're fairly soft, but if a local backyarder says he'll give it a try, I'll hand over a set of Hornady 300RCM dies for him to attempt. Nothing ventured nothing gained! The bloke is making my 303/35 dies as we speak honing out a set of Lee RGB 303British dies.

Not sure on what the RCM brass will be like. I've got the reamers specs for both the 300RCM and 338RCM and a bloke in Alaska measured some cases for me to verify dimensions. Surprise was how thick necks are as they varied between 0.013" to 0.017" ... pretty sure most of my standard cases are closer to 0.010". She'll be right for hunting purposes, you target types are after all a bit freaky when you start talking case prep and level of desired consistency! :P
Cheers...

What a shame to hear you won't be ready for the pro cal, Ken. That rifle sure is pretty, hope you get it sorted real soon.
The barrel work looks real smick.

Bowhunter,

Mate it's just the old stock painted up to 'rekindle the love' The barrell work is just a beadblast over the Kreiger sock...'easy peasy' :D it won't be seen when the stretcher tube goes on  If you look closely it has an oversized recoil lug that the tube rests against......will it work...beats me....

Next year will be the 'long range year' for me...with a couple of short one's in between perhaps

Con,

Huh......how do you make a .25 cal die from a .311..? Theres nothing left to bore out :? :? :?

TZ,

I ladder tested and got up to 56gns without any pressure signs but ran out of time...with a BIG node around the area you predicted to a grain or so higher :D ..the barrel finished at 29" so I will have to beg a loan out of Steven for his chrony at the end of the month to check the speed. It feels as though it's just coasting at 51.5gns...very mild indeed. Jeez I might get 7mmSAUM results out of it yet....past the window I know....would be nice to find a sweet spot about 3000fps mark but..."blow wind blow"
