I know the feeling well.
Once i gave a new shooter my 223 and a bit of coaching he went 60/60 and 59/60.
My son has a bad habit of borrowing my rifle and cleaning me up.
On a sadder note I once lent a 243 to a young bloke and got it back in three pieces.Oh well what the hell.

local 22 shoot at the pistol club

score is out of 600 odd

I'm somewhere in the 450-480 mark

as one of the RO's at the time I was there when the security guards were there practicing
invited one of the security guards along to the shoot on Tuesday night- trying to do my bit to recruit new members to the club

and she beat me with a 520 odd score and I shot 430 odd

cleaned my clock

later

I know what you mean mate.
I know a few guys that still have old target rifle sthey dont use but wont sell for fear of someone giving them a touch up with the gun they reckon is past it.

I know two blokes who lent there guns,

One lent his .22 to his brother and he decided it was just the thing for some Hurry Curry.

The other was a Dad who lent his 12ga to his son, he got caught shooting roo's with it and the old boy is minus a shotgun.

Yep, I lent a single barrel 12g winchester shottie with ejector (it was a flash shottie for a single barrel) to my uncle and never saw it again. Even after dozens of rquests there was nothing. This was before the days of rego and I later found out that he had a domestic with his GF and the cops took it for safe keeping. PRICK :(

One day at the range with a SLR as a young tike in the cadets I bitched that my rifle was crap. The range officer took it out of my hands and pulled off an arsey off hand shot at a can 100 meters away and handed it back to me saying "nothing wrong with it son" Later I overheard him saying that he could never pull that off again
