G'day all. Ive been shooting for a bit (8yrs) and am just getting into target shooting with fullbore. I wouldn't mind getting into some rimfire stuff. What sort of match take place over 25 - 50m ranges using rimfire. I currently have a CZ 452 Deluxe and am next planning to build a CZ 452 Varmint in either .22LR or .17HMR toped with a mid power scope, bipod and sling. What sort of matches could I use this combo in. I'd like it to be able to be used for hunting as well.
Cheers for the help guys.

Quick,
There are no matches for 25m rimfire shooting in this country....50m and 100 yards group and the same for Hunterclass are shot nationally....there is also RBA & IRB which are 50m score events which are only shot in a few places around the country as well as BR30....also there is no class for 17hmr's only 22 rimfire long rifle.

Ok then cheers mate. I found out that only .22LR can be used for rimfire shoots. The only 25m shoot I've found is the Lithgow Challenge that the Air Force Cadets do. Its a 3 postional shoot and I thought that there might be some other one close.

G'day Quick, mate depends on what level of competition you are talking about, some clubs may have there own monthly comps and make there own competitions up to suit.
This weekend we have a field rifle match for rimfire which is 2x lots of 3 shots at a scoring target @ 25mtrs rapid fire standing unsupported, then 5 shots @ 25mtr standing unsupported but this is untimed, then we fire 5x shots @ 50mtrs standing with post, then 5x shots at 75mrts elbows on bench.
All of the shots are for score,we all have a good time and you can use any rifle as long as you can feed 3x rounds from the mag and you cant change rifles for the different yardages. This is just an example of what may be available to you but you will have to ask around for whats near you.
Regards Chris.

Re: 25 - 50m rimfire matches
Cheers mate, my local Pistol club also shoot rimfire so I'm gonna find out what matches they shoot when I next talk to my mate who goes there. I just want a range where I can just have a bita fun and practice my markmenship. Shooting by myself at home gets a tad boring ya know?? Im shooting fullbore target rifle at the moment using Omarks but want to also get into the rimfire side of things as its a tad cheaper.......well alot cheaper than .308Win.
