re-barreling and new stock

hi guys, i have a ruger M77 MKII varmint in .22/250, and have just about worn the barrel out, so i'm thinking about getting it re-barreled to .243 by MAB barrels (now TSE engineering) any thoughts on this? Also i'd like to get a new stock on it, there doesn't seem to be much choice for ruger m77 but i like the boyds, although i would preffer if i could get one without the thumbhole and i can't seem to find one anywhere

Have a look here, they are happy to ship to AU, unlike a lot of other manufacturers, there is a large range of thumbhole stocks, both solid and laminated and the prices are good,

Ive been told to go for a better barrel by a few people, maybe look at a lilja or even a maddco barrel. MAB make nice barrels but apparently these others are nicer.

As for a stock, what about doing a slee stock up? Great stocks when they are finished up nicely

um... i've put about 2500 rounds through it, a few factory but mostly hot handloads, mostly 37.2 gns of AR2208 behind a 52gn nosler HPBT. With these loads it used to get under .5" every time but 5 shot groups are now erratic... occasionally i will get a good group but not often.

Wow that is hot!! I run 36.6 x 2208 behind a 55gn V Max, my -250 is also due for a re-barrel as my groups have blown out to an inch. Rob Tobler had a look and said its on its way though not completely totalled so I have around 200 rounds of crap to punch through it which should see her out.

Yep Richards Micro Fit are a nice stock and well priced .. you can expect a 6 - 12 month wait for it unfortunately. So unless you are prepared to sit on your hands for a year I would suggest you look elsewhere.

I would have a good look at re-barreling it to a 6mm br as you already handload & there is quality brass available.
