Re: New Light Gun
AJR... you will be chasing lightgun 1000yds then with the brake? That would then make me think you are chambering up a 30cal magnum of some description.
Which one is it? It seems in the US a lot of the guys are going for the 300WSM in lighgun with brake.
Cheers

Re: New Light Gun
Ah yes... I did forget about the 600yds... which I am guessing that a brake is allowed in LG.a.JR wrote:Ai , Light gun has needed a shake for sometime now in AUS and i believe that the 300Redneck i currently use has the goods to do that ..There a 2 other big L/Gs being built as we speak ,1 a big 7mm and TZ's 300ACK that will not contest FLY events..i will use the present cartridge as i have just bought enough of the brass at a reasonable price to last awhile and a new lot of 187 BIBs are on the way too.. Seeing 5 shotters going sub 2inch in a heavy gun has me convinced that it is possibile in a light gun of the right design ,so it's have a go ya mug ,so to speak .. 600yd will be i believe set on it's head as well..JR.ps .Info i have on the 300wsm is not to be sneezed at but i will stick with what i know..
If brakes were allowed in 500m Fly LG, I then would chamber straight to 300WSM. It crosses my mind occassionally to get a HG in 300WSM...
Imagine a LG, 300WSM 187BIBs... that would be a great case to projectile combination....
Hey, a question for you...... brake will reduce recoil..... drastically... and the offset reduce the torque of the lightgun/heavy projectile. I would imagine the rifle will be like shooting a 308 with 155's in a LG.... interesting.... No 600yds down this way to build one..

Jeff,
Ahhhh I see it all now.....
Mate..a little bit of sandpaper will go a long way with your newie...love the knot feature Y'know I have often thought about making an 'ugly scrap' stock on a tackholer.....what an eye opener that would be as we all know pretty doesn't mean it shoots
Hope to have the big kickin' 7mm ready soon.......got the oversize recoil lug, washer and bits, some cases and parts of a stock made...jeez I even polished the tube...

Re: New Light Gun
JR I'll give you $1.85 for it..
on another subject and scuse my ignorance if you don't mind, but even with my piddly little .223 I notice the rifle torques. What is the benefit of counteracting this JR? If you don't mind talking to an LR "noob" like myself.
