Going to the club

Post by Brad Y »

Im thinking of taking my new 22BRX out and competing out to 400yds at the local club. My main use for it is varminting and I want to shoot fast and flat with 52-55gr ballistic tips. But i would also like to shoot out to 400yds at their shoots. What bullet weights are fine for shooting this distance? Im thinking about this to work out what twist barrel to use. I dont want anything like a 1:8 to shoot 75gr bullets etc, I would prefer to shoot the 52 and 53gr match bullets but have a feeling the heavier bullets will shoot them. Unless the heavier bullets havent gone to sleep in that time and the smaller ones will out do them in closer. Should I be looking for a flat base or boat tail design at these ranges?

Cheers

G'Day Brad,
AI liked the 1:9" twist to use 69SMK out to around 500yds. Worth considering and it should shoot the 50-55gn bullets too.

Ask AI if he doesn't reply to this post........but i'd get a 1:8" twist barrel

Cheerio Ned
