July canberra 1000
Another interesting day on the Majura range with some small groups and high scores achieved.
Congratulations to PVM, Jim Clifford and Richard Wild.
Great to see the return of young Fugey and his very capable offsider ( Katrina).
Given his impressive efforts yesterday, we may have another convert in “macca”. Well done Grant!
Hopefully someone can and will provide the full competitor lists and results for the day.
Also thanks to all involved in the Canberra club for the organisation of the day and a special thanks to Hans for preparing targets earlier during the week.
cheers

Re: July canberra 1000
I have the results and will post later today when I get sometime.
As dg mentioned it was interesting with some good groups shot, a lot of larger groups mixed in as well.
Normal July weather in Canberra (reading freezing) which saw the morning group get some good conditions.
Macca turned up with the black pig and managed some very respectable results including a group around 6 inches as I recall. (TonyZ, mate you should slap aJR for letting that go, its still working rather well)
Hopefully we will see a few more AV memebrs turn up for a shot in the future .. I am pretty sure Macca will be back and will agree its a lot of fun.
Macca good to put a face to the name .. now we will see you in September at the Pro Cal
cheers

Re: July canberra 1000
A big thankyou to Dave G,Rinso, Mick and the rest of the shooters for making me feel very welcome.
Also for some excellent advice.
Yeah I think I'm hooked.
I highly recommend a trip to the 1kbr for everybody. It's excitement plus and a lot of fun.
I had a 242mm(9.528") first group, score of 42 and then after some advice from DG and Rinso I had a 131mm(5.157") group and a score of 39. I shot blind and it wasn't as big a worry as I expected, again thanks Rinso for the logic in doing it that way.
Lot's still to learn and "oh dear me" I think a HG is somewhere in my future.
Yes all things being equal Canberra in September.
Have a good one,
Macca

Re: July canberra 1000
macca, mate that is an extremely good result for a first time effort. Some shooters may spend an entire lfetime and still never shoot a 5 inch group at 1K. Great to see the black pig lives on in the domain it was intended for. Not shooting goats up some dusty gulley. Mind you, at first glance it may look like it was found in that gulley . Appearances can be decieving.
Sounds like you got some good advice from dg and Rinso, but it still took you to work up the loads and pull the trigger. Well done mate.
Tony Z.
ps. Grant did you go with the 168 SMKs?

Re: July canberra 1000
Thanks Tony.
I had to go with 168 Bergers as my SMK's didn't arrive in the mail on Friday.
The blokes helped me a great deal.Canberra was also a little kinder then normal.
Macca.

thanks for tabulating and presenting the results.
i reckon that 11 in HG and 15 in LG is a very pleasing turn out for a july 1000 club match in canberra.
september numbers could also be interesting
cheers
