Ok guys i will throw this in.
In keeping with good old fly shoot basic rules, this is what i propose.
Any FACTORY varmint style rifle can be used,
any calibre,
Copies of factory varmint stocks are permitted no bench stocks.
Factory triggers only
Any scope and power,
No extra weight can be added to the rifle other than scope and mounts eg rifle must be as sold from factory, no lead or other weight added to reduce recoil or improve handling.
All rifles must be repeaters.
Targets must be signed by range officer and all rifle details must be supplied. I feel photos of the rifle must be submitted also, its not hard to find someone you know with a digital camera to take the photo.
All other rules as per standard fly rules.
Let us know what you think of that. Keep it simple and see what happens for this year then we may need to adjust things for the next year.
If people shoot with things like Sako TRG's and Coopers and what not so be it. Most of those things are hard pressed to shoot better than your average factory varmint rifle anyway. Remember the fly is shot at 500m, it takes a lot more than an accurate rifle to win a fly shoot.
Yes calbre can be what ever, everything has its advantages and disadvantages.
The only two things that i think need to be looked at are,
As for single shots not allowed how many people here will be effected by that? Let us know if you are and we may work something else out.
Also you guys may decide that rifles with aftermarket barrels can be used, can leave that up to comment as well to decide that.
What do you think guys???
cheers,
Shane

1ST things first!
First thing we have to get right is the 10 rules of the fly shoot have to stay the same , no alterations at all.. This is manditory because this postal is to be shot at the registered FLY matchs and the original cannot be altered so each shooter has to accept them anyhow .. We can our selves add additional rules just for the postal but that's the way it's got to be..So we have the 10 set rules they are printed on the target for those that are just starting..Lets add to these
Additional Varmint Gun Rules
Open to All Factory Varmint Rifles ,
Stocks = Factory Varmint style stocks (max 2.5 inch forend width)
Actions=Factory Varmint (no Sleeves) (no aftermarket)
Triggers= SAFE Factory
Weight = 12 lbs max including scope
I see no other rules needed ..
i think you will all aggree that this is an easy simple approach.. Before you go off half cocked ,i have reasons for each rule and it has nothing about trying to make the rules fit my gun just right..JR..Jeff Rogers

a.JR,
Looks very good. The only shoot I'd be able to attend is Little River anyway ... where I'd hope to try the new 22/250 VLP-S.
So Shane, I'd be one disadvantaged by cutting out single-shots. My only alternative would be to shoot the 223Rem Savage which you were going to AI for me and fit a single-shot follower. Looks like you talked yourself out of an extra job
The Choate stocks we will assume are "varmint style"?
Either way well done a.JR, looks workable and broad enough to encompass anyone.
Cheers...
