Projectile swap meet
Re: Projectile swap meet
l was wondering if anyone may have a 416 Woodleigh in about the 400-410 weight projectile. Shane will be doing a taylor for me soon (l hope) and need one for a dummy case.
Thanks

Re: Projectile swap meet
NP Jack,
How many Woodleighs / mixed other do you want?

Re: Projectile swap meet
Only a couple would be fine thanks wiz. Just to make some dummy round so Shane can use them when doing the chamber on the taylor. Once it gets built, it will be a test to find out what shoots well in it. Most only come in packs of 50, so there wont be to many left over after testing. Then l will just stick with that. But hoping l may get 2 to work. Looking at 350gn's for lighter work and 400gn's for the big stuff
Re: Projectile swap meet
Jack,
Fire me off a PM with what you want brass/pills wise and an address mate. Happy to make some dummies if you like too.

Re: Projectile swap meet
Jack H- where abouts is lost??
Have you considered hard cast projectiles with gas checks?
Cast Bullet Engineering in I think QLD make some nice molds for the 416 caliber
From what I remember they made a light 325 gaping mouth hollow point right the way upto a 450 or heavier T-cone solid
If you are interested I'll ask a mate on another forum who is a cast bullet nut- he might have something for you to try as well.
Wiz have you found it's better to neck down 458 or neck up 338's

Re: Projectile swap meet
If it is any help, I have Woodleigh 410 solids and 450 RNs.
Yell if you need them.

Re: Projectile swap meet
Great wall great fence Pat...No discernable difference in the firming of either. I do have more 338 than I do 458 simply because of Winchesters seasonable availabilty of 458WM brass. No such trouble getting 338 stuff.ogre6br wrote: Wiz have you found it's better to neck down 458 or neck up 338's

Re: Projectile swap meet
this is a big cheers to "model70" for the .257 nosler BT's he gave me ages ago !
still yet to test the 87gn sierra's he also sent me
i think i will be buying these again ! (MY LAST 25/06 LOVED EM now after pillar bedding my new on seems to aswell)
this was my first test run, only tested in 1 grain increments, so will now buy some and adjust powder slightly and fidlle with seating depth ! but very promising so far!

Re: Projectile swap meet
I asked this for a reason- if you are in sunny QLD near burnett perhaps- there is a mad bullet caster and black powder freak I knowogre6br wrote:Jack H- where abouts is lost??
it might be worth your while to get to know him- if you help out and provide the lead- both for yours and in payment he might be willing to make you enough hard cast projectiles to last a shit load of hunts.
working with this bloke and afternoons effort will give you enough projectiles for years worth of hunting with a big banger like that
