For what purpose- varmints or larger things - for what cartridge?? in 22 hornet you wont have enough speed for reliable expansion.Rick1970 wrote:Anyone got a asortment of .224" in 55/60gr weights? Got some 50gr v-max, 55gr NBT, 40gr Sierra, 55gr HPBT Sierra.
Rick
I have some 60 Nosler Partitions, some 60 HP (and maybe some SP) and some 60 V-max hornadys
maybe some others if i have a snoop around-
Geoff little makes an absolute pisser of a 57 grain FBHP- long ogive, nice HP- with my POS scale I cannot pick any weight diff. On a quality scale you prolly could but it would be sub 0.1 grain in any case- well within tollerace for a hunting projectile.
How many 55 NBT's you got - we might be able to do a swap
later

For a 223Rem and small things, up to fox or MAYBE a goat if its the only thing i had at the time and could get a good shot (usually take the 30-06 if targeting goats).
Have maybe 60 odd (maybe more, will check tomorrow) 55gr NBT's. My rifle don't like em, can't seat them within .100" of the lands and still get them to feed from the mag.
Wouldn't mind trying 60gr Hornady's (HP, SP or v-max). The 53gr HP Hornadys seem to shot ok, just wanted to try something a bit heavier.

Re: Projectile swap meet
I've found an almost full box of 60 V-max,
some of the 53 Hornadys you already use- great pill- my 222 loved them in 222 form and after I re-chambered it to a 223 and then again to a 223AI.
I know I have some of the other Hornady 60 grainers somewhere here- just a matter of finding them
My reloading cupboard has/had been taken over for other duties and a lot of stuff is boxed up.
In a 223 the Hornady 60 SP is a know pig and goat getter- works in all standard and faster twist barrels that I know of. and the HP version isn't far behind it in actual on game performance
I don't know anyone with a 1:7 or faster twist - not that it's required for these slugs but mates with 1:14 (re-chambered 222 to 223) down to 1:9 (savage HB varminter) have all used the SP's and they work well.
One mate in NSW with a R700 with a custom S/S 1:10 twist used them for all his 223 shooting- haven't spoken to him in a long while but last time we did he brought them by the bulk case (2000+) load and loaded his reloads on a dillon with 2207 and shot everything with the 60 SP.
All his roo culling on permits (he's a jackaroo), mice, rabbits cats foxes dingos pigs goats- it was his go-to gun.
Don't expect .5MOA accuracy from them but if you find a load that they like it will do it day in day out- I have found them to be very consistant in their accuracy- under 1.25 MOA is expected.
I would be using them in my .223 but I lucked onto a factory load that groups better than my reloads and a cheap one too- brought a case of it- so I dont load for my 223 much anymore.
When I did load with them it was a toss up between 2207 and BM2 which it liked best- I used 2207 becuase the charge was lighter and I could get more loads out of a tin.
How about you PM me and we work out a swap??
I have a few (<10 left) Littles 57 FBHP- do you want?
Do you want a few 125 Speer TNT's to try out in the 06 as well??
later

Stinky, the point is to offer what you have with no conditions attached regarding what you want back and if we all do that then I might have something you are after while someone else has something I need. Because we are all being a great bunch then more people can be helped.
That was the point in me starting the thread but I see some people post saying they want to swap this for that, thats not what its meant to be. Rick got it right.
I'm not having a go at you by the way , just using your post to put across a point I have been thinking of for a while.

Hey Trev
No offense taken mate trust me, this thread alone has enable me to have a wide variety of Proj's which I still haven't tried them all and hopefully I have helped out others too, I had listed what I had to offer earlier but its prob lost in the pages of this topic. And have to say one of the best Ideas ever!
