Canberra 1k BR
I suppose a lot of you are still travelling or a bit buggered, but was wondering how it all went over there.

Re: Canberra 1k BR
Have just returned from Canberra - thanks to the shooters for making me feel very welcome. In particular Dave Goodridge and Rinso. I learnt a lot about the way its done, and will see how much interest there is in putting in some concrete benches behind or beside the 1000yd mound at Rosedale, my local range. Maybe we'll be able to return the invitation in a year or two.

Alan, good to see you had a go and that you also enjoyed the match and the guys there at Cantberra.
I grew up as a kid in Gippsland, Moe, Morwell and Yallourn Nth, and would love to go back for a visit. So if you put in some benches and run a 1K match, i will try my best to get to it. I think there would be a few others that would want to go aswell. I am sure that PVM and others at the Melbourne club would support it also.

Re: Canberra 1k BR
another enjoyable Canberra 1000yd event.
The conditions looked friendly but produced some unexplainable vertical at times.
Thanks must go to the canberra crew ( dave, mick, richard, hans, clem, jim, anthony etc) for the work and effort they consistently put in.
Also it was very pleasing to meet you Alan, and hope you enjoyed the weekend. For a first time blind 1000yd shooter, i thought your effort was superb.
ethan purcell's blind group in some ????? conditions with his 6x47 lapua was also pretty impressive.
i have some photos to post, but just have to work out how to do it .
it may take a few days.
cheers

Re: Canberra 1k BR
Yet another good weekend of 1k shooting is past and as dg said all credit to the Canberra boys for hosting another enjoyable shoot.
AlanF turned up and shot his first 1k BR match and I have to say is another great bloke .. seems like long range shooting attracts them. Good to here that you enjoyed yourself Alan and I would think that if you can get your range to run the match you would get a good core group of shooters to turn up. Good effort on your first match too.
The results are as follows ;(B) denotes blind shooter all others spotted.
Light Gun
1st Group agg Dave Goodridge(B) 199mm
2nd Group agg Jim Clifford 315mm

the next scheduled canberra 1000yd br is on sunday the 27th of july.
shooters meet at about 8.00 am on the range for an approx 8.30 am kick off. if you were interested in just looking or competing, i am sure that you would be made most welcome by all that are there.
also for those that probably don't know, ethan purcell is only 14 years old. to be able to shoot 1000yd br blind independantly without coaching at that age, is in my books ,quite an achievement.
AND guess what ???, he is going to keep learning, improving and getting better.

dg, nice shooting as always, I guess the experience shines through A mollied 7mm I hope
Just wondering why you blokes score in mm when the yardage is imperial ........
I used to work for a builder like that ...."mate I need a noggin 2ft and 4mm "

i stand to be corrected, but i am guessing that for the last few shoots it has been more convenient and easier to measure in "mm" through the use of a 1m rule or the like.
and yes mate, they are moly'd 162 jackos.
the 7mm is going on 8 years old ( almost 2000 rounds - tobler 1 in10"), not sure how much longer it will last ,but it has been an exceptional barrel.
cheers

Re: Canberra 1k BR
Thanks Dave G for the invite.
I may take you up on it if my 284's PTA ever arrives and I get a load going.
I have my 6mmBR but the wind does bother her a bit and she weighs in to HG class.

Re: Canberra 1k BR
in relation to my comments re-measuring in "mm", i should have also made it clear that there is no problem with this system and it it is pretty easy to convert back to inches.

dg,
yep I see....I guess there's not many groups that would come down to the mm anyway...I was just being cheeky
Trevort,
I reckon there's a good risk you would lose your money, he just keeps getting better

Re: Canberra 1k BR
Pretty sad state of affairs from me, but I'm finally getting round to updating my website for 1K/Fly in Canberra. Does anybody happen to have a copy of the results from this shoot (May 08)? They were on this desk, but the Mrs has been on a cleaning bender lately, and now I cant find much of anything since the removal of my organised chaos.
