Barska Benchmark scopes

Anyone heard anything about these? I know the swat and tactical versions are not great on high magnification but wondering if these are an improvement or just more of the same? Looking to put one on a 6br for long range wabbits! What can i say i love trying new gear

Mate ive got a cheap 6-24x50 for my 22-250 ackley. Its called an olivon and its a target model with 1/8 clicks. I think it cost me under 200 and has been great. For the money your looking at spending maybe one of those japanese tasco varmint scopes would be worth looking at.

I've got some of the cheaper barskas and can't fault them. I've got them in a few different sizes from 3-9x40 up to 6-24x42 and a haven't had any trouble at all.

I'll clarify what I wrote before, partly as 2 other brands have been mentioned.

For the $$$ you spend o a Barkska, they are overpriced for what they are
- as opposed to anything wrong with them but you get far more bang for
your buck from an Olivion Scope - and from what others have said
(valued opinions IMHO), a Vortex.

Having looked through Barkska, I didn't like what I saw but I did like
the Olivions.

I own two olivons. The first was just a knockabout 3-9x40 for on my hummer. I had a 3-9x42 gold crown nikko stirling before that on my old hornet and the olivon was heaps better. So when it came time for a scope for the 22-250, I chose them again. This one is great as well, has handled everything i throw at it for a spotlighting gun. Now Ive got the new stock and getting the howa tricked up a bit, Ive thought about investing in a better scope, but there is no need. It does everything I want it to for a great price. I recommend them to people when buying scopes for their 22's and varmint guns at the local shop to look through them and try them. Unless I get a competition target rifle, I wont be buying any other brand for a while.

Any idea on $ with them? Just trying to think of a cheap spotlighting scope think the barska is out and also contemplating a nikko nighteater 8x56 are they any good under the light or just crap?

Mates uses 4-16 nighteater on his 243, reckons its not bad maybe a little fuzzy around the edges when wound up but the centre is clear.

theres a few people around my area using them for spotlighting with no complaints, they are all using 3-10 or the 4-16 variables. there is one guy here that has them on 3 of his rifles and they are almost the scopes he will buy, like all things though they have their share of dislikers

The Crossfire's are a new budget range for Vortex and I believe they will be within the price range you are looking at .. they will still have a lifetime warranty as well. Give Antony a ring at Vortex and he should be able to give you a price.

I've been at the USA's NRA Annual Meeting and Show for the last couple of days, since it's right here in town this year. I FINALLY got to eyeball some Vortex scopes, I'd heard about them here, but never seen one.
The Viper line looks pretty damned good, though maybe a little pricey. I DO like the reticle selections, though, they seem really practical for my needs. I didn't really look into the Crossfire line, as I've had my fill of budget scopes, no more for me.

Granting that I didn't get to shoot a rifle with a Vortex mounted, but I did get to try them out on gunstocks. They were head and shoulders above some of the other budget brands/lines available for eyeballing there at the NRA show. I think the next scope WILL be a Vortex, if nothing else, to find out for myself.

I also talked hard to the Nikon representatives about their incredibly stupid BDC reticle, which has absolutely no appeal to me, now that I own one I love the scope, but the reticle sucks scrote . I actually asked the rep to explain to me how to use it, and, just like the literature that came with the scope, the explanation was so convoluted that I am totally convinced that none of those idiots have ever shot anything with hair on it.

i recently purchased a barska EXCAVATOR 8-32x50 illuminated target dot reticle
really cheap !!!


love the fine cross and it will do the job until i win lotto.
cant complain about the clarity and the features(1/8 click adjustable target turrets, sun shade, flip-up covers, illuminated 1/8 dot, spare battery) the only thing is on the higher magnification eye relief and head allignment is critical.
will add more feedback when i actually get to pull the damb trigger
