Help me decide!
Re: Help me decide!
Good question... I have just bought the CZ452 American which has the straight stock and no fixed sights. I like the clean look of it and don't see a need for the fixed sights. It's a very nice rifle - check it out here: http://ausvarmint.kjd84.com/forum/viewt ... f=2&t=2970" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;copadingo wrote:CZ 452 - 2E ZKM LUX 22lr

However, if I already had a .22 (which I do now!!) then the next gun on the list would be a 17HMR (or 338 Federal) - don't have a specific preference on brand, but I do like the Anschutz's - the 1717 I think?
My main reason I went the .22 first is because it's cheap to feed, quiet and can take bunnies to 90m (?) and foxes to 60m (?). Hope that helps!
Re: Help me decide!
cz .22lr - cheaper ammo and will always be worth a $ if you sell or trade.
Re: Help me decide!
Mate go with the 452-2E, you wont be dissapointed.

Have you ever picked up a marlin or the CZ?
The CZ leaves the marlin for dead mate!
You just cant compare the thing.
I personally will never buy one of those clunky marlin rimfires, the rattly bloody magazine just does not cut it!

Yep what Mevo said.
But mate you have asked us a bit of a weird one here I reckon.
One is a high quality well made rifle in a 100 year old chambering, and the other is a very cheap budget made rifle in a 21st centry chambering.
So do you want a cheap and nasty rifle or a very good one? and do you want a cheap plinker .22 or a fast stepping .17 HMR?

No worries mate, we were all newbies once.
You will not be dissapointed with a CZ

I suppose if I were to choose one with my head...then the CZ .22 will win. Cheap ammo. Will hold its value well. A good gun to pass down the family tree. Quality...
"But", I like the .17HMR for its longer range and very accurate. Yeah sure its a cheapish rifle and the magazine takes a while to get used to and wears in.
I own a Marlin, and for the money I paid for it, its great fun.

Re: Help me decide!
G'day Copadingo, I'll put my two cents worth in, this is just my opinnion.
I would go the CZ .22, mate the ammo is cheap as compared to the .17hmr and you can plink with cheap sub sonics or buy top shelf target ammo and go in comps. If you find that you want a .17 hmr becasue the .22 doesnt push your buttons, the CZ would hold good value as a trade in. I have used a Savage heavy barrel laminate stock with the accu-trigger and it shot excellent out of the box and I think set the bloke back $400?, it was well worth it I thought.
Anyway keep us informed as to what you settled on.
